Hi I wouldnt advise it I would wait to see what your surgeon says when you go for your check up. Its 9 weeks since I had mine done and its still tender I am waiting to see my surgeon to ask what cream or oil I can use but I dont think I could stand using a vibrator on it best of luckCyndey

Hi Dougal, suggest you save your batteries! E45 cream was recommended to me and after 4 weeks you should not have to be over cautious as massage is good for the scar tissue, once the pinkness has gone down you can also use bio oil, I use both now, bio over E45, nothing perfumed under any circumstances until free from the pink skin, hope this helps

I certainly wouldn't use a vibrator. It was weeks before I could bare to touch mine. My physio recommended massaging it twice a day with bio oil. I did this and now just over 2 years down the line the scar is hardly visible. I now use aveeno moisturiser all over my legs and especially around the scar area.

    Good luck

Why a vibrator? not really the right thing to use. Just massage the area with oil or vaseline, it will eventually fade.

Was told a vibrator or tens devise would help with the very sensitive nerve ends, may have been misinformed.

I think the vibrator was a joke to be honest. A tens machine will help to break up scar tissue adhesions, relax the muscle and improve joint function later down the line if you had a problem with that.

I wanted to put a picture of my scar but there is no attachment on here just to say/show you not to be hung up on your scar. I have not bothered with my scar except maybe 6 times I attempted to massage it with vaseline, as people on this site mentioned oiling it, to be honest it was boring and being on the side it is out of sight anyway. Ten months next week post op and it is hardly visible, I expect it to almost disappear in a few months.

I am 4 weeks post op and have been using Bio oil for two weeks and all good. I used bio oil on a shoulder op scar and that helped reduce scaring tremendously.

I am four months after my hip operation and the scar tissue is really painfull,

I was told in January that it could take a year to get back to normal if ever it does.

Hi Maggie, I'm about the same timeline as you and have not really had any real discomfort for at least a month, the odd niggle but I can lie on it quite easily, sometimes a seam on my jeans might sit funny because of where the scar is. Suggest the Bio Oil as others do and you can't go a lot wrong with E45 or similar, presume you are UK based? I give mine a really firm massage morning and night with both and the scar is really clean and starting to fade. Not sure how they 'buttoned' you up but I only had internal and external disposable stitches, also no dressing since day one which I also think helped with the quick healing. Hope you feel relief soon

      Hi HL

I have used bio oil and also E45 but the nurse told me to use the ibuprofen gel.

it is feeling a good bit better just tends to be bad when i have been sitting for a while and try to stand up.

I had staples ( hated them) I can lie on it for a while then the scar gets uncomfy, the scar looks amazing always has you can hardly see it atall.

glad your on the mend .
