scar update

Evening everyone,

well heres the update as promised, today I spoke to the hospital and they said i have been over doing it for just ( weeks post. I sent them  pics of my scar and they said if they thought there was a problem they would call me right back, well no call, so I guess they think it's ok, but i have to say i'm not happy, I was feeling great no pain, and now it feels like I have gone back 4 weeks, it's still very sore and angry looking, and it feels everything if stiff when I walk, feels like it's deep inside my scar, oh I don't know.... wish I had have stuck in at med school lol, anyway I have a gp appt tomorrow for a different matter but I will get him to take a look anyway, I'm going to post a pic of it, so I hope this does'nt offend anyone, but it seems to me that on here we have all been there and someone may have had exactly the same thing, I think I'm worried more because I did'nt get any of this at 9 weeks with the first opp. oh... and also the hospital said I should not have been on my static bike until after my 12 week asessment, any help would be much appreciated,

Love,

Lynne.

Is it swollen around the area as well?  Scar looks bad, but if no swelling nor heat, then maybe not an emergency.  I believe that the reason scars feel so uncomfortable and angry is that directly below,  the the tissues have been stitched and the muscle and scar tissue deep inside is pulling .  There is a natural tension. Let's hope nothing infected nor damaged inside

      Hi Notabene,

no it's not swollen , it's a bit warm to the touch, the hospital say that it's the insides mending, just as you say, I guess I'll just have to wait and seesad

Yes Lynne Notabene is right. I had similar look after a hand op. it's the healing process taking place beneath the surface.

It does look angry so I would keep a close eye on it. Possibly mark the line where the red area ends, if the area increases get it checked quickly

Do you have a fever, if you do I would be concerned..........

It's hard to tell from the photograph, but if it's painful at this point I would press the doctor about it.

    good morning from Holland ,

You are right ... looks angry and annoyed ... again, maybe the fabric of your soft leggings might have irritated the scar - you know, you get sort of sweaty and all that --- hope you are not offended by my opinion -

Scar from 1st THR has been really strange - later in the healing process it started to make her presence known .... stabbing and pulling and all kinds of discomfort - still does ... now I have the scar from 2nd THR - staples were removed one week ago but I still have some dressing on it for "protection" - it is beautifully healed, closed etc, but still feel so tender ...

maybe you can put some dressing on it for now -

I am not sure if I understand the not-riding-static-bike until 12 weeks assessment .... strange people - wish they would really get their act together ...riding the stationary bike is one of the mildest exercises you can do early in recovery ... not that I do them ...

try not to worry too much -  maybe put some Arnica or Aloe vera on it ... or gently massage around it --

    big warm hug,

    renee
