Scared about ECG and echo

Hi everyone, I've been suffering with anxiety and heart palpitations and it's got so bad my partner has had to take time off work. I have decided to go private and see a cardiologist. I had a holter monitor on for 5 days and took it back this morning, a lady that is reviewing it has just rang me and said everything looks fine so far but the dr wants me to have an echocardiogram in the morning before my appointment tomorrow evening with the cardiologist. I asked why and she said it was just to cover all bases and that the cardiologist hadn't even seen my ECG and requested an echo for routine. I am really worried it's because there's something wrong I'm terrified, should I worry. Thanks

Anxiety is the worse.  But I remember having cardio testing, did the heart monitor, did a full stress test that included pictures of the heart before the stress test and after, the echo and ekg.  Yes they like to have all the info they can, so they can see everything.  I know its hard not to worry, but I really believe he is just getting al the info, which is good so then you know all is well when he says it is.

Anxiety will cause the heart to pound for days and weeks, I know mind does.  But I would not worry, I beleive you will be okay.

There's nothing wrong it sounds like.. They need to have as much info as possible.. Think of it this way, if something was wrong would they allow you to wait?? If it was something bad, they would tell you to come in asap or go to an ER.. Just breathe.. And think of how great it'll be once its all over with!

I'm from the uk and I've gone private as nhs wait is months and it was causing me a lot of stress, I suppose I'm not use to being rushed through things like this I only rang last week I've already had a monitor on for 5 days and now having an echo in the AM then get my results in the PM if all is ok tomorrow I think I may cry as this has gone on for almost a year, a year that should be one of the best I have a 15 month old I want to enjoy everyday with no worry!

Even though he told me I'm fine and was very thorough I still feel anxious about my heart I know it won't vanish over night. He asked me if I drank alcohol I said no and he said that's where your problem is you need a good drink lol he was lovely! Have you had tests to reassure you? If you haven't I'd say it's well worth it it's a step closer to understanding it all. They can happen when at rest they mostly but it's because we're relaxed that we feel them more, the are no more harmful than a hiccup smile just annoying and scary but that's what anxiety does to us. We have to beat this and we can if we really want to x

I have had lots of ecgs blood tests and a 24 hr monitor all been fine haven't had anything else yet my doctor seems to think is nothing to worry about . I don't really get a racing heart only occasionally it's more of the thuds in my chest or fluttering and then I check my pulse and can feel the irregular beat only last seconds x we really do I just want to be a normal mum and not worry all day everyday x

The worry is what is feeding the palpitations you have to break that cycle. Have you tried CBT or hypnosis I'm having hypnosis had 2 sessions but haven't actually been hypnotised yet. I can send you some relaxation hypnosis they are brilliant I listen to one before bed and it sends me to sleep no problem! If you want message me your email smile

Do not be sorry I have had palpitations due to anxieties and yes they are scary. Anxieties can cause a lot of problems like blood pressure problems heart rate being up, stomach issues

Its okay to worry when you do not know what is going on
