scared about my blood pressure

so ive been having health problems a while now; unexplained stomach pain that is under investigation, aswell as indgestion that i am on medication. on my recent trip to the gp they got me to use their blood monitor 'do it your self' machine (you basically stick your wrist in a cuff and it tightens and then prints you a recipt of youre reading). and my reading was 135/69. the doctor said that it is fine and nothing to worry about, but online it says i am in prehypertension, i am worried since i am slightly over weight and also on the progestrian only pill, but i am only 22 years old. should i go back to the doctor? why would they have not assessed me at being at risk?

Hi Emma your Dr was right in telling you that its fine and nothing to worry about, the fact that you were in a medical environment which would increase it any way, but 135/69 is perfectly OK, 120/80 is the supposed norm and that's when you have sat for 5 ish minute's calmly.

Your active BP is totally normal so please try not to worry, I would say though that if you do think your weight is slightly more than is comfortable then maybe nows the time to try to lose some and get fitter

I find that the cuff type in surgeries is very innacurate as I certainly cannot get my arm into a comfortable position in it. If it was a wrist one they are wildly innacurate.

Overweight and indigestion/stomach symptoms go hand in hand

Thanks for your replies, in regards to being over weight I only just found out yesterday, I am comfortable with what size I am and the doctors have never told me to loose weight but the machine that weighed and measured my height said my Bmi was 27 when it should be 24 at the highest. Also before I took my blood pressure I climbed one flight of stairs but then stood waiting for around 5 minutes, is standing not when your bp is at its lowest?
