Colonoscopy 2010 Autumn was normal no polyps or anything

Upper Endoscopy 2011 Hiatus Hernia identified and mild gastritis

Bright red blood IN stool Mar 2014 (I know I shouldnt have but assumed internal Hemmorids which I know I have, because I had colonscopy in 2010 I thought I was still covered with that  as I didn't have any polyps then :-(

Easter 2015 Really bad heartburn and loss of appetite and lost 2 kg (from 66 to 64 kg)

Faecal Calprotectin normal June 2015

Upper Endoscopy July 2015 normal (mild gastritis)

December 2015 lost  2 kg (64 to 62kg)

Normal thyroid, and normal bloods

November/Dec 2015 - I have yellow mucus with stool (more when constipated)

Saw some bright red blood this morning mixed with the mucus

I don't get blood when stools are soft (sorry TMI)

Really really petrified I left things too late, but I keep telling myself that even if I should have gone to drs earlier and even if I have CRC (sobbing) it would be at early stages.

I havent slept the last three nights, wake up with dreams that I have been diagnosed and really jittery. As a result my hiatus hernia is worse, diaphragm really tight and feels like I can't breathe,

Given the above what are the chances I have late stage CRC, I heard weight loss is only evident with advanced disease.

What are the chances that in 5 years I developed a polyp and it became cancerous.

Could Internal hem cause the same symptoms.

Also forgot to mention that When constipated feel like I haven't been to the loo properly

Panicking

SJ

(mum to 2 darlings and scared for them)

Im not really experienced enough to have any advice for you but just wanted to offer my support. Im going through similar but cant imagine what its like for you to be so worried with two wee ones to look after. I think you need to get to your doctor to get some answers as stress and worry will only make your symptoms worse. I have read that it can take 5 to 10 years for a colon cancer to develop so with that in mind I would highly doubt you have late stage cancer. Also I believe blood from heamarrhoids show as bright red. There are a good many other conditions it is more likely to be but human nature makes us dwell on the worse. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise better than me. Sending you my best wishes 😊

Thank you teasle for your kind reply - I am hoping it is only hemmoroids but you're right human nature always looks to the worst.

      Best Wishes to you too,

In many respects it is better to expect the worst and be relieved to find that it something more benign than take the opposite approach. It is essential, though, to press your doctor to get you organised for tests as soon as possible. I was fortunate that my GP was on the ball and as soon as he suspected that I might have bowel cancer I was referred for endoscopy and CT tests very rapidly. Surgery and chemo followed quickly once the diagnosis was confirmed.

It is an easy thing for me to say, but don’t worry too much. Even if the worst case is confirmed, and I hope that it isn’t, treatments these days are very effective and not necessarily as onerous as you might think. I was in and out of hospital in four days for the surgery and more or less back to normal a day or so later. The latest test show that I am currently clear. Perhaps I should add that I was 78 when diagnosed so someone younger and fitter should come through the procedure somewhat easier. The main thing is to keep a positive mind and trust the professionals.

I wish you all the best and hope that your problem is not as serious as you think.

Hi Sarah. If it's possible yes. if not ask your doctor what it could be.I'm thinking of hemmorhiod . Colonoscopy here is advisable every 5 years.

Hi - went to GP and I;m being sent for a colonoscopy but am really scared as the  whole area across my abdomen (from left to right rib) cramps alot and is very sensitive. I Imagine that this is going be more painful when they pump air into it as well.

I know I have to go ahead with this but really am dreading the worst - dont even want to look at the screen in case I see a tumour. Apparently they do it with gas and air and don't need a muscle relaxant (buscopan)

I really hope they don;t find anything sinister, worry now till its done.

Sarah request to be sedated. When I did colonoscopy I didn't feel anything. They just woke me up after

Sarah I understand how u feel. I've been there and I also suffer from anxiety for almost a year until I get all the test that I needed and everything came back clear. Just pray and God will listen to you. :-)

Gosh thanks for your kind email, I'm sorry to hear you've been through the same thing but it's a great help when someone else can understand what I'm going through, especially as I'm trying to keep a brave face infront of family and friends.

I know that the unknown is also fuelling my anxiety - and its probably at an all time high right now.

Thanks again for your lovely message.

Please insist to see a specialist to do a test. I had the same symptons, had a brilliant doctor who send me straight to specialist,as it happened I did have a tumour, I had radio and chemo  than the operation and got permanent stoma, yes it was a terrible year and like you I was panicking ,but you know I am cancer free now, feel brilliant and happy with my stoma it's a relief not to have piles anymore and no pain to go to the loo.,and yes it takes 5 years for a tumor to grow so go and do it now.
