Scared getting stent temoved after been in 3 years too long

Wondering if anyone has had a stent removed in their pancreatic duct? Mine has been in 3 years too long in April and I finally found someone to remove it 6 hours away. They told me I will probably have to have it replaced. My question is does anyone know if the pain having it put in is as bad as having it replaced? I am worried they will have trouble removing it because it has been in so long. If anyone has been through this or has any suggestions or just happy thoughts I would truly appreciate it!!!

The stents are put in and then taken out via the ERCP (Endoscopic) technique and I have never noticed any more pain going in the coming out.
My GI Dr tells me that pancreatic duct tissue quickly takes on the size of the stent so usually a stent only has to be in place for 6 to 10 weeks to permanently open up the area of duct in question.
3 years seems like a long time, almost like you were forgotten? In any case it does not hurt at all other then the slight IV stick to put you out for the ERCP.
