Scared getting stent temoved after been in 3 years too long

Wondering if anyone has had a stent removed in their pancreatic duct? Mine has been in 3 years too long in April and I finally found someone to remove it 6 hours away. They told me I will probably have to have it replaced. My question is does anyone know if the pain having it put in is as bad as having it replaced? I am worried they will have trouble removing it because it has been in so long. If anyone has been through this or has any suggestions or just happy thoughts I would truly appreciate it!!!

Hi, I had a severe attack in July '15 that resulted in a large pseudo cyst that required a series of 5 stents going in and then out to open up areas of my pancreatic duct and common bile duct as well as from the cyst to my stomach.

The stents are put in and then taken out via the ERCP (Endoscopic) technique and I have never noticed any more pain going in the coming out.

My GI Dr tells me that pancreatic duct tissue quickly takes on the size of the stent so usually a stent only has to be in place for 6 to 10 weeks to permanently open up the area of duct in question.

3 years seems like a long time, almost like you were forgotten? In any case it does not hurt at all other then the slight IV stick to put you out for the ERCP.

Sorry my phone was messing up had to switch to computer.... anyway I was in the hospital 7 days. They kept giving me medication I told them I was allergic to. The pain was awful. Then when I returned home for a year I kept having Acute attacks because of the stent they would hospitalize me, but do nothing about the stent. Ty for your comments I am going 6 hours away to get this done hoping they will be better. Riding is hard for me I throw up the entire time and movement even walking is so painful. I have delt with this 15 + years and am so tired of it. Your comments made me feel hopeful this time may be better thank you so much I wish you all the best.
