scared I have colon cancer

Hi, I have had a large swelling and pain in right lower front area above groin, since July, Cons said it was rheumatoid pain referred from hips, never had arthritis - ct scan for kidney stone (no stone) showed inflammation in hips, cons wouldnt listened to me at all and referred to rheumatology. Saw gp again suggested had ultrasound for hernia, didnt show one. Rheumatologist (oct) said it definately wasn't rheumatoid arthritis and referred me to gastroenterology, bowel changes, swelling getting bigger, I go to loo four/five times a day, not had formed stool for months, passing blood. Noone seens bothered. Scan on womb aug shows thickening- app 28.1.16 just been cancelled.  I am now waiting for colon rectal app just before xmas, if not cancelled. I am petrified it is cancer spread from womb or bowel and that when they find out what is wrong it will be too late. Great site - hugs to everyone

Hi Margaret, thanks for replying. I am glad I am not alone, though I dont wish anyone the pain etc I have. I hope you get sorted too. The hosp told me that the thickening of my womb was incidental-border line, only have one ovary as had other removed due to ovarian cyst. I started with an agonising pain in swelling area radiating to kidneys - no stone, but cons was horid said I had rheumatoid arthritis should be glad it wasnt in spine and I needed to walk about and pain would go (beg aug). My symptoms are now worsening, stool etc and swelling, as I was wrongly diagnosed and remain undiagnoised 4 months later. I love nhs, womb scan was 25th aug when thickening discovered, nxt app was 28th jan, they cancelled it this am. I will try not to worry but its hard isnt it. good luck to you

Thank Mags, your symptoms sound so like mine. I am 54 went through change at 42 ish, oh well. Its nice to talk to someone who understands what is it like isnt it. I am always happy and upbeat and not showing how worried I am around my hubby, family and friends, and cry when I am alone. But it is hard to be always happy when you are petrified all the time isnt it. Have you had your swelling for some time then, and do they say it is related to your womb. xbiggrin

Better stop watching TV or Google with regards to that. It will just add to your anxiety. I have also problems with my bm like bleeding mucus and diarrhea and even stomach pain for almost a year. I got an anxiety thinking that I have bowel cancer for a year. I already have xray ultrasound ctscan colonoscopy and blood test and came back normal. Still undiagnosed but because all the test I got came back normal except for having diverticulosis which is normal disease in a colon. I just need to eat foods with more fiber. Go get all the test that you needed and wish you all the best

      Hi Brayan

I have the same problem like you have for one and half year now. I am not only brave to do clonoscopy. Its been 4 years that they removed my galbladder but i never get well. I kept having pain in my right side and suddenly i got a sever left pain a year ago. My entire colon is in pain now. I have a sever constipation. everything changed after the galbladder surgery. i am not the same person anymore. Doctor wants me to do colonoscopy but i am afraied to do it. I dont like the sedation medication it scares me. Especialy when he told me they gonna use Proponol the one that killed MJ. I dont know what to do. sad

Hi Mags, thanks for your possitivity I am so trying to remain upbeat. I feel a bit better finding this site and reading posts on here though. I have now made myself I mantra lol. I WILL NOT LET THIS LUMP DEFEAT ME OR BEAT ME.  Alot of peeps are going through the same things, and waiting for appointments. Hopefully I will have my appointment on 22nd, and then maybe a colonoscopy or something within a few months. I really just want a magic potion to remove or shrink the now massive hard swelling (lump) across my right lower front, so I can bend and sit down properly lol and to stop having the loo as my best friend in the morning. I am able to cope with the pain at the moment. Heat pad is good on my right kidney area, cant stand heat on swelling though, have found ice pack to be better on the swelling.  Only thing is I am always freezing cold now, so I put the ice pack on and wrap a massive duvet around me lol. N hopefully I will evenually get another gynae app for the one they cancelled in Jan (only 4 months since I had that scan) Keep me informed how you get on with your appointment too, we can compare notes. xx Cally

Hi Cathy, I know its feels really scary having to have colonoscopy, I am pretty scared of having to have one too, but if they can find out what is wrong with me well I will do what I need to do. Peeps say the worse bit is the prep before, I dunno, but I want to know what is wrong with me like you. I think I would rather be sedated so I dont know what is happening, the hospital hopefully will have done thousands. I have opposite of constipation and spend the first hour on waking having an affair!!! with my loo. Like Bryan says its your choice though, only you can decide what to do. Carolyn

Hi Bryan, you are right I am gonna stop googling lol, glad you gave a kick up the bum I needed (excuse the pun) lol. I am stopping wallowing, I just found this site n I think its a great way to chat to others and see even if you think you are all on your own with whatever is wrong with you you are not, and there are always peeps worse off. I am feeling more positive, whatever will be will be, I will just have to wait and see. Good luck to you

      Thanks Carolyn

For your respond. I know it's my choice and its the hard one to make. I should have the colonoscopy in three weeks and I'm praying for corage to not to cancel it again. I hope I can do it this time. I was asking the gastronologist if he thinks I have a tumor or something he was like na i don't think so. Inast night I was thinking he might be right beacuse if I had something bad I wouldn't be here by now. Beacuse it's been one and half year that I am in this pain and going to him. Of course all this time I was googling and diagnosing myself with every possible illness out there which almost made crazy.

hi cathy you must have the colonoscopy .i did and had sedation, rem you can be put out if your nervous just ask all the best magssmile

I am trying to convince my self to do it but anytime I go to hospital I don't let any of the nurses put any IV on me. Beacuse I think in any moment they'll sedate me. I am horrible with drugs I just don't like them. After the galblader surgery I did not take any pain killers I tolerate the pain. I asked the gastronologist to use air and gas only but he said no. And I can not find any other doc that would do this procedure without sedation. He told me that they use Proponol to sedate patients. I read about and freaked out more.

Did they use the same drug on you margarate?

What was the reason you did the colonoscopy? Did you suffer from constipation and abdominal pain?

Hi Cathy, good I am glad you got your scan date, can you take a friend with you, just for some moral support. The staff will be great as they know everyone is scared and they are trained to support you. Have a fab christmas, dont stress and then go for it. No more googling though eek Carolyn
