Scared of going from 50mg after 7 weeks to 100mg

Hi all. I have been on 50mg now for 7 weeks and 1 day. I would say I have seen a change for the better where I've had times with no anxiety for a few days at a time, but Then I get anxiety for a few days. I went to the doc today and she has upped my dose to 100mg but I'm so scared of the big jump. I don't know wether to give the 50mg more time as I've heard it can take upto 8-12 weeks and also if I do up would it be best to go 75mg. And also is it likely that I will get nasty side effects like just starting again?? Any advice would be much lay appreciated. Thanks in advance x

I think i may have gone from 50 to 100 too quickly. My shakes are really bad and my anxiety was so bad over weekend, tearful and really low but today i feel tiny bit better. Its such a rollacoaster x

I'm also on beta blockers (propranolol 40mg x3 a day) and they really do work for the shakes and heart palps.ย

Yep, I have to agree, propanalol really helped me with the initial side effects. I was on 40mg twice a day, stopped taking then a couple of weeks ago and feel great now ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Hi Vikki, I've been on 50mg of Serts for nearly 10 weeks. I guess at about 8 weeks I noticed my condition was so much better although sleep at night was still a problem but for a week now I've started to sleep through the whole night which is a great relief!

Regarding your 100mg increase, I think if it was me I'd give it a bit longer before increasing, as all of a sudden you may feel much better as I did. As you say you've already seen a change for the better so you're going in the right direction ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

If however after 2/3 weeks you're still feeling anxious then perhaps increasing slowly would be better, say 75mg for 2/3 weeks and if that doesn't work then the full 100mg. If the side effects are worse you could try 50mg one day then 75mg the next and so on to see if that helps (this is only an idea and I have no way of knowing it will work, a bit of trial and error!)

Wish you well and hope you feel on top of the world soon ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thanks so much for the reply blu, thats exactly what I want to do!!! I will wait til week 8-10 and see how I feel then and if no change up to 75mg. And yes I have put my prescription today and pick it up tomo and will check while I'm at the chemist to see if the same brand and if not they can have it back. My ones r ranbaxy ( I think that's what it's called) what brand do u take?ย

I'm on "Accord" but when they changed it to "Bristol" it brought back the side effects!! I notice lots of peeps (not all) have problems if they change brands.

Although it's said the generic brands are cheaper because they don't need to recoup the costs of developing the drug, I'm not so sure!
