Scared stiff

So far this is what’s happened to my hubby who is 57

Thursday noticed maroon blood on the toilet paper after wiping himself after a number two ( looked like a reasonable amount but could just be that it spread easily ) if he hadn’t have wiped he wouldn’t have realised he was bleeding

Friday - same again , phoned the dr to explain to him what was happening , shortly after he had very bloody diarrhoea ( personally I think this was a reaction to what’s going on )

Saturday - maroon ish colour poo and more maroon blood in the toilet

he is doing a fit test on Monday and got a drs appointment.

no pain, no loss of weight , no other symptoms

as you can imagine our minds have gone into overdrive

I have looked up everything including diverticulitis bleeding which fits the bill but obviously I’m thinking the worse he’s thinking stomach ulcer ?

i know how scary these things can be. but try to remember he has no other symptoms. even a stomach ulcer doesnt necessarily mean cancer. many people have ulcers with no cancer.

fear tends to give us the worst possible thoughts. Just be aware of that You can let those thoughts go.

please try not to look up anything on line because no matter what you read you won’t know for sure if that’s what he has and you’ll just be scared.

just take one day at a time and on Monday he will have the test.

ruminating about the possibilities will drive you crazy. I know I’ve been there and it’s not fun. It also doesn’t get you anywhere. Just keep busy doing other things until Monday. You could be right about diverticulitis which can definitely be treated.

wishing you and your husband all the best!

thank you so much for your reply.

      its soooooo hard not knowing

hubby is normally the strong one but hes very worried

obviously we don't want to say anything to anyone until we know what it is so trying to be normal and putting on a brave face is hard.

the longer the bleeding goes on the more worried he is getting , hes also passing wind which is very smelly and his stools still aren't completely normal ( sorry too much detail ) but i'm convinced thats his body reacting to the situation ?

i'm trying to keep sight of the fact he has no other symptons but firstly if it was the big c would he have more than one sympton ? and secondly rectal bleeding is just not normal we can't help but think the worst even though we know we shouldn't
