Scared to sleep

my anxiety has been bad these past couple of days. for the oast two days i have been scared to sleep. last noght i felt like i was controlling my breathing and i kept waking up bc i felt like i would stop breathing . just now i tried taking a nap and as soon as i was falling asleep, i felt like if i had fallen idk if it was a reflex but my body moved and i opened my eyes . im scared that will keep happeninf

    sorry to hear , i think everyone with anxiety shares that fear , fact is your body relaxes while youre asleep , the reflex was probably a tense muscle twitch getting in a relaxation mode . All body functions slows down when you sleep

      If you dont get sleep however it will make anxiety worse . You will be ok

    its bad for me at night too. it seems like my panic manifests more at bedtime. thats whenci notice the funny feelings in my chest and the fear of death comes over me. trust and believe in god. not sure of youre a believer but a close friend of mine helped me see that today. gods in control. its not over until he says its over. my fear is death and even though we all die eventually gods the one that holds that descision. anxiety is real. trust me. i know. i was in er on thanksgiving! i know it all to well. i just choose to beleive that god will see me through.

    i know exactly what ur talking about. the trick is to relax before u try to fall asleep, if not ur going to keep doing it. ive even done it so much i got sleep paralysis and that my friend is terrifying. take u a melatonin and start u a movie and relax, watch ur movie and u will wake up in the morning after a good nights sleep. look up panic away on youtube and watch his video. it really helped me alot. hope this helps at all and just remember that this feeling is caused from ur adrenaline caused by the panic attack and anxiety your having and it is NOT going to hurt you. hope u get to feeling better

    You don't need to worry about your breathing as its an automatic body function. You can not stop breathing and if you do your body will wake you up so relax x
