Scared to take medicine anyone else experience this?

my doctor has prescribed me the lowest version of Wellbutrin 75 mg however I am scared to take it. I know I sound crazy and I know I can’t rationalize this and I am just being silly but I’m just afraid of how my body is going to react to it. Has anyone else experienced this or specifically with Wellbutrin? i’ve tried Lexapro and did not like that and since I have both anxiety and depression my doctor thought this would be a good try. please let me know if anyone has experienced this or if there’s anything you have done to make taking medications less scary.

The thing that got me to start taking medication was the fact that I was miserable anyway before I took it and I knew I couldn’t keep feeling that way the rest of my life. So for me it was worth taking because I had nowhere to go but up.

just know that the medication‘s do take 4 to 6 weeks to really take affect and very often in the beginning it can increase anxiety in the beginning but I had to get past that. I was never afraid of any medication it’s just that some of them will have side effects that may feel weird like increased anxiety, dry mouth, etc. I’ve never had a serious side effect.

Hi its completely understandable that you're scared to take it. I wasn't prescribed Wellbutrin but i was prescribed 50mg of sertraline and i was very scared to start it so i began on half the tablet (25mg) and worked my way up. After looking at reviews and googling a lot I was so nervous about the side effects however once i started taking it it was not as bad as I thought. The worst part was probably a night where i felt a bit spaced out tired and dizzy. Also got some headaches and a dry mouth but that's about it. They do say in the first few weeks you may experience increased anxiety however I only really experienced this in the first few days and then it eased. I definitely think you should give medication a try. I have now been on sertraline 50mg for nearly 10 weeks and I'm feeling a lot better and I'm so glad i started them. I definitely think starting on the lowest dose is a good idea as it eases you into the medication better. Also its really important to be patient as some people say it can take 8-12 weeks to see full benefits. Talking from my experience I would say to not look at your progress from day to day but week to week as there may be ups and downs. I'm feeling a lot better now, things seem easier and I'm actually finding I am excited to do things again. It's so scary at the beginning but when you start feeling like they're working it is so worth it! I also recommend still continuing to try and get out even if it's just for walks to challenge yourself whilst taking medication so you can see the most benefits but go at a comfortable pace for you. Also just be open and honest with your doctor and ask for reassurance when you need it as that's what they're there for. I really hope this medication works for you. There's better days ahead! ❤❤
