scary side effects

Cramps not only in the calves of my legs, but in my head, neck and shoulders. At one point it felt as though my gullet went into a spasm and that was teriifying. Very severe head pains. Dizzyness and light headedness and a feeling as if the whole of my brain was on scramble and I could not cope with the most ordinary events. I would be walking in my own location and would suddenly realise, I had no idea where I was. I stopped taking them a week ago and already there is a great improvement

You are quite right not to take them. I went through 8 months of misery with mine. I didn't think I would see Christmas. I went to the doctor more times in three months than I had in the last 30 years. They made no connection with the Statin. I had the same as you with breast lumps and agonising legs. I couldn't walk anywhere.

You feel better in f ew weeks when it goes out of your system.

I am a 60 year old woman who has high cholesterol. When my tests returned from the hospital, my doctor told me my cholesterol was high and that he had 'forgotten' to get it tested 2 years ago. So much for the medical profession. He prescribed Simvastatin, but something intuitive told me not to take it.

I overcame Graves' Disease nearly 10 years ago with diet, hands-on healing and exercise and came of the strong Carbimazole I was taking 3 times a day. My doctor was cynical. Now I am going to attempt to lower my cholesterol in the same way. I don't want these side effects. I used to work as a medical secretary, and the reps from the pharmaceutical companies were open about new drugs being tried on pensioners - some of whom were taking 12 a day, and in those days, maybe today, I don't know, the drug companies offered consultants all kinds of incentives such as trips to drug seminars, all expenses paid.

We should all be wary of pharmaceutical drugs before we take them, and keep asking questions and researching the side effects.

Thanks Cho Cho....always thought Dr's were encouraged by the drug companies, you've confirmed it. My cholesterol unfortunately does not respond to a low fat diet...it is in my genes etc....I am concerned about taking it and concerned about not taking it given that diet did not improve it.....I also am on a beta blocker although my BP has been under control for many years.....I also have recently lost 2 stone in weight which I hope will indirectly help me be healthier. I don't have scary side effects...a little pain in my legs sometimes but as I am slightly arthritic it could just be that as well. Regards to you..take care.

I have been on these tablets for about 4 months now. Apart from some slight pain in my calf muscles I have had no other problems. Oops forgot about my sex drive gone west. Not all good then!!

I had been taking simvastin for at least 8months and I started to suffer from severe pains in my feet . The pain is undescrible as you feel as though you could cut them off to get some relief. After seeing the programme on ITV I decided I'rather drop dead of a heart attack than be left to struggle about unable to walk . I went to my doctor to say that I wont be taking them anymore and he was not very pleased, and he said the programme makers were only scare mongering frankly I,ll just decline from taking them.

[color=blue:3cc156e6f1][/color:3cc156e6f1] My mohter in law ahs been taking this drug for years. A couple of months ago they 'changed' in colour and I thought they ahd just found a cheaper supplier / brand name. My mother in law has never been the same since and it is only just this week I put 2 and 2 together and did some research on statins. She has sufferred sever wrist pain in both wrists and since December has had sever head and neck pain, insomina and lethargy. She has had a CT scan and an MRI scan to investigate but no doctor has ever suggested it might be the statins. She has stopped taking them (day 4 ) and already is beginning to feel a bit better!
