schelotherapy causing thrombosis?!

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had schelotherapy in my legs in march. The thread veins went away and all was good. However now months later where I had them injected have become bruised red and sore again! This really scares me as I am worried about getting thrombosis/dvt. The whole reason I had them injected was because I was testing the water for getting a larger painful one injected but have now decided no more injections as just don't want to tamper.

Has anyone had schelotherapy and is able to advice me on this? I know bruising can last for a while but didn't expect it to go away for ages and then come back?!?! I know the veins may reappear as I didn't want the other two sessions the woman said I'd need to have to complete the course but would they come back bruised read and painful?!

Any advice very welcome!!

    Common Effects

The minimally invasive procedure is generally well tolerated. Common side effects include swelling at the site of the injections, bruising and minor bleeding.

    More Serious Side Effects

More serious effects include hematomas (collection of blood beneath your skin), superficial thrombophlebitis (characterized by tenderness and warmth over the injection site) and vasovagal reflex (characterized by nausea, increased perspiration and palpitations).

      Hi Sara,

it it seems as though u have had all the necessary tests showing normal clotting .

Take a deep breath exhale... Takes time to recover from varicose vein treatments. If UR alarmed mabe getting another opinion from a different dr will help.

      Take Care...(( hugs))

      Hi Andrea

I didn't go back after the first time in the end...thought sod this I'm leaving at alone from now on! But luckily I haven't had any further bruises/issues. But it HAS taken months..not just the two weeks they said it would take to settle. I also had the dried blood under my skin..dark round sspots under skin. Really hated that but went away on their own. Think blood muSt have dissolved! I would get it checked out if you got red blotches but it probably is just superficial thrombosis which doctors ensured me about 100 times is nothing to worry about! Bet it goes away after a while and eventually u will be happy you have had it done smile x

thanks for the reply sara,i was suppose to have 5 sessions have only had the one on the worse vein,i bet i will have to still pay the €1000 if i had known i wouldnt have had it done, ive even suffered with anxiety over it as im scared of hospitals, docs ect but the vein seemed to be getting worse so thought i better get it done,i didnt know i would have all these problems,i was stupid to think as well it might help my bad circulation but hasnt done  anything, just hope it settles down thanks

I also got really bad anxiety over it. Was awful, was all I focused on for ages..was scared to sleep.incase I got a blood clot over night! But now I'm over that...fingers crossed!! My thread veins overall do look better now that's y I think in time u will feel good that u have got it done. Get the red patch checked out for reassurance then try to focus on what they've said. Ask for signs to look out for if its anything bad and then try and focus on other things smile x

Hi Sara, hope this isn't too late, was just wondering if you had any problems just afyer the treatment? I had schlerotherapy for thread veins on my legs 2 weeks ago and yesterday had bad pain in an area on my ankle and now have two ugly new darker veins than ever before and they really hurt! Has totally put me off going back to the second appointment sad did you have similar happen just after your treatment? Hope to hear from you.

    Thanks
