Sciatica? Please help

Posted , 7 users are following.

I'm 33 years old and am a supervisor in a inbound call center. Today I got home from work and did my normal routine (cook, take dog out for potty break, sat down on couch and watched tv), shortly after i sat down i felt a sharp pain in my left butt cheek and it was radiating into my hip. The butt cheek feels kinda numb and tingly too. Once i got up the pain intensified and trying to walk, bend over slightly to get a drink off the coffee table or trying to sit back down was very painful. I know with sciatica it makes your leg hurt too, but not so much for me. I have experienced this a few times in my life but not this bad. Does this sound like sciatica? Please help.

    Rachel,

It sounds like it could be. Do you have any other back issues? You could google sciatica as well. From my experience I have a pinched nerve and herniated disc in my back creating the sciatica.

    Hello Rachel,

I feel your pain!  Sounds like it could be sciatica.  Normally it continues to shoot from the buttocks down thru the leg and sometimes into the foot.  For me the pain was so excruciating I was crawling and couldn’t touch my toe to the floor - reherniated disc with bone spurs - but had the microdisectomy and all is good!

Would be well worth contacting your doc to be sure bc you don’t want the pain to get worse.

    Keep us posted!

Look up Pariformus and see if that is something you may be experiencing. It is a condition that Paddlers experience from being in a sitting position for extended periods

    Hi Rachel,

It sounds like it may be sciatica, from my experience please get a handle on it right now. I have been suffering with sciatica for 8mos. I’ve done everything and this junk refuses  to go away. If I were you I would watch how I’m sitting, what shoes I’m wearing, how I sleep etc. since this is just starting for you stretching everyday may stretch it out. Good Luck
