You have damaged or started off something down your spine, you should go to a Specialist, Orthopedist and get an MRI Scan. Sounds like you have a Herniated Disc. You could try ice packs or warm baths, but you need a correct diagnosis as you don't can't even know where to put the ice pack.

Good luck! Sciatica is the largest nerve in the body running all the way down your spine and then through buttocks down both legs. I'm using a walking stick as I 've been doing all the treatments available here where I am before operating. Yes limping is just one sign. The leg can start giving way and the thigh muscles hurt , constant agony. Limping is fine. Try to keep moving, the less you move the worse it gets.

Go to your doctor and get an MRI to find out what is affected, usually a pinched nerve, or a bulging or herniated disc hard to treat if you don't know what is causing the pain. Limping is just one of the many symptoms of sciatica.
