Sciatica with IBS flare up?

Has anyone else noticed that IBS flare ups seem to coincide with back pain and/or sciatica?

Interesting you should say this. Yes, i do experience back pain alongside flare ups but I don’t know if it’s just coincidence.

Well as I’ve had sciatica since 2005 it’s hard to say, I have noticed more back pain when I get flare ups, however the sciatic nerve pain is constant due to other health issues.

Thanks for the replies. My GI seemed dismissive of the idea that my back pain had anything to do with IBS. I’ve noticed a pattern though that tells a different story!

The lower part of your colon wraps around your lower back.  This is why you can get back pain with IBS.  I have a lower back injury which made my IBS worse when it first started.
