Sciatics - bilateral

For over a week now  I've had sciatica around my left hip and upper thigh that does not spread down the whole of the leg but occurs only when lifting my left leg up is it painful.

And now from yesterday I can feel sciatic pain around the outside  my lower right leg when I'm up and about.    So far the sciatic pain has not been severe but feels more uncomfortable when certain movements brings it on, like sitting down to lie down and then getting up again.

?When I see the consultant in October I will ask him which of the degenerated lumbar  discs would be more likely to cause this recent sciatica  with the hope of getting some clue either from the MRI or from speculation.

?Has anyone here had bilateral sciatica?

Bi-lateral sciatica can be stenosis in the spine.  Mine was caused by L2/L3.  Like having sciatica down BOTH legs.  Cured in one day with an LLIF (lateral) fusion.  A hospital overnight, immediate relief, no brace, no rehab.  Yes, some residual nerve pain for a few weeks...that's it...

Just make sure that's what it is.  You'll need a CT/Myelogram WITH CONTRAST read by a NEUROSURGEON to confirm stenosis.  Or maybe you just need a good chiropractor.  Fixed many, many cases of sciatica for me over the years.

    Hi chico marx,

I have cervical stenosis with spondylosis and myolepathy at c4 5 6 7. We have posted each other before.

Recently had very agonising pain in right outside hip. My go tested for hip problems, couldn't find anything. I was instructed to up my gabapentin and amatriptaline and it was gone within 24 hours. Sciatica or cervical to blame for pain???
