Sea band

Has anyone with MD tried Seabands? My doctors want me off the Valium and Meclizine. I picked up a pair today to try out, but was curious if anyone else has tried them and if they got any results.

It’s worth a try. I use the MD patches on my ear and below my belly button. These can be purchased without a prescription. I also use the Meclizine when I feel an episode coming, but I try to avoid episodes of course. Hang in there.

What are they and where can you buy them? My anxiety is up a bit because the doctors (PCP, ENT, and Neurologist) all want me off everything but the Diazide.

Where do you find MD patches, I took my son to college over a week ago and the vertigo hasn’t left me. The low salt diet works a little but stress is a big factor for me. I want those patches 😀

I've not tried them but will be curious if they may work, I would not be too optimistic. I took myself off Valium 4 months ago and started using a CBD oil with a very small mixture of THC oil (e.g. Medical Cannabis) and it has worked wonders. I would take one small vapor puff only when I was overly stressed and felt dizziness coming on. This eliminated any Vertigo attacks and did not make me sleepy and tired like the Valium. I did this for the first 6-8 weeks after I received the oil and since then I have not had a dizzy spell. I have not used it for the past 2 months but keep it handy, just in case. I have been free of Vertigo attacks for 4 months since I have been using this, it has really changed my life. It is only available for sale and use in a few states in the US but I believe in the next year or two most all states will allow it. It has been the only thing that has eliminated my debilitating vertigo without knocking me out for 3-4 hours like Valium and Zanax. Good luck Brandy.

Explain again what keeps your vertigo away. Is it a oil or pot? And my doctor never put me on Zanex or anything. Does that help keep vertigo away.

      Hi Judy:

First off Zanex does not help, my doctor put me on it because my Meniers seemed to be triggered by stress and she thought it would help with that, but it did not work. I use an oil that has both CBD and THC in it, both are generated from Cannabis, however, the CBD oil is legal in all 50 states as it does not have any hallucinogenics in it. The THC is what you find in pot. It is currently only legal in a few states in the USA. The oil mixture I use is primarily CBD with a small amount of THC, this works for me when I feel a dizzy spell coming on. I take just one deep inhale from a vapor pipe and that is all i need. If you are in a location where THC is illegal you can try basic CBD oil as this may work for you. Here is a couple of links that provide further insight into this....

I use sea bands when cruising. Unfortunately I have had bad attacks whilst on board.

Hi Brandy my wife got these for me as we were desperate for anything because drugs were not doing a great job for my severe attacks as my vertigo and sickness got worse I saw the coloured bands on my wrist as I was throwing up thinking what a load of s...t worn for a week threw them away Regards John

Why do they want you off it? It’s amazing these doctors act like we’re drug addicts needing a fix. I bet if they ever had to live with this, they’d be writing the prescriptions for themselves. Good luck to you. 😊

They claim the meds only "mask" the symptoms, they don't fix them. I'm not uneducated and they all know I'm a nurse by trade. Isn't the point to mask the symptoms? So we can lead a semi-normal life most days? They don't suffer from it, so they have no idea of the helplessness we go through during an attack or the ensuing depression/anxiety.

Can’t believe he wants to take you off, maybe try and go to a different doctor. If I eat any big meals or a salt I start spinning. This disease sucks you can’t even enjoy a nice meal

So true!! If they could figure this out and cure us we wouldn’t need to mask anything. In the meantime let us do what is necessary to live our lives and not be housebound and depressed. I’m staying hopeful. What else do we have? Hang in there and find new doctors.

Sorry all. The brand name is the MQ motion sickness patch. Also, mindovermenieres website has great information on CBD. As someone mentioned already, this seems to work as well. Let’s us know how it goes.
