Seasonal Flu Vaccine

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hi,

In 2009, aged 41, I had my first seasonal flu jab.

Soon after, I began experiencing cataplexy. Eventually, I worked out that I have narcolepsy.

I have now been diagnosed etc.

Although I can see a great deal written about the link between Pandemrix and narcolepsy I can see nothing about the seasonal vaccines.

Is there anything reliable out there I need to see or is it just that people in my age group who had the seasonal flu vaccine have never seriously been looked into?

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Andrew

I'm in the US and their are many studies from Switzerland, Japan, ect.... Do you know what your flu shot was vaccinating for? Strain B, H1N1, Bird flu? Have you ever been sick with the swine flu or H1N1? Not all flu shots cause Narcolepsy. In the US I too got a flu shot in 2011. It was the first year they did combo shots of 3 different strains of flu. Mine had H1N1, H2N3 mutated version of H1N1 and the B strain. The US did not use the adjuveint however I got Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. I too was 40 years old. I went to Stanford sleep clinic in California and was told I have a genetic predisposition for auto immune disease and the H1N1 looks similar to the Orexin cells responsible for the wake cycle. My own immune system attacked the Orexin because they included a mutated version H2N3 in the flu shot I had.

Hi Kristina. Many thanks for contacting me.

How interesting, Stanford actually confirmed that the vaccine prompted the onset of narcolepsy, and that your genetic predisposition is what made you vulnerable?

      Hi,

I don't really want to discuss my medical issues in finer detail on a public site, but did want to discuss some issues with you.

I posted a message with my e-mail address so that you could contact me if you wanted to. It has been deleted by the moderator.

I can't see how this breaches any rules, but so be it.

I thought I would explain as the deletion makes it look as if I have said something bad.
