Second bout?

Hi Forumers,

Three weeks ago I had my first bout of shingles located on the right hand side of my forehead. It cleared up over five days and I have just been left with some red skin where the blisters were.

Yesterday I ended up generating a bad headache and today the headache is gone, but I have an incredibly stiff / ache-y neck. Am I getting a second bout? If so, will anti-virals at this point in identification prevent the blisters forming?

Unfortunately I’m on the other wide of the world travelling for work and feel rather helpless.

I should have mentioned that I also had the sweats and chills last night.

    Dear Charjoel,

It would be too soon to diagnose this as shingles vs influenza vs meningitis.

As you definitely feel so sick, perhaps you can arrange to see a physician in the country. Your company should make arrangements and pay for this English speaking physician.

The antivirals you took previously would not prevent a second full episode, so that the vesicle-blisters would form if you indeed have Herpes Zoster-Shingles.

You’re probably panicking and still have the first bout going on. Calm down and wait for your body to recover.
