Second bout of bleeding after stools in 6 months but now including severe lower back pain...

3 months ago, I had heavy bleeding after each bowel movement. Had stool samples taken which were clear and an examination which showed no sign of piles, haemorrhoids or such. I had this for almost 3 weeks and was exhausted by having three or four bowel movements followed by the bleeding every day. This suddenly stopped but the bleeding has now come back followed with extremely sore lower back pain on the right, to the point I can't stand up properly. I've had two bowel movements today followed with blood and the back pain is not being relieved by heat compresses or ibuprofen. I'm not due to go for a colonoscopy until next month.
Anyone else suffer like this? Does it sound normal for IBS? It's not just a wipe of blood, there is quite a lot. And the back pain this time round is unbearable.

Blood is not an IBS symptom. But can be piles but you seem to say piles were ruled out by doctors.
I suggest another visit to Doctors to explain the symptoms in detail

On gosh I hope not, I've just tried one of them or a bladder infection! Good luck if you have that, it's horrible and makes you feel awful! See your doctor the original postee.

The bleeding, if not haemorrhoids, then could be a fissure. IBS causes random pain anywhere from the chest down to the pelvis area, which can radiate through to the back, and can be extremely painful. I have IBS and on two occasions I had to call for an ambulance as the pain was severe, I thought I had appendicitis.
It may look a lot of blood but a little can go a long way, my bleeding haemorrhoids and fissure would drip blood into the toilet bowl, and it looked loads, but blood tests would show no signs of anemia.
Another trip to the doctors might be worthwhile if you are worried.

Thanks for all the responses. Ended up at A&E as I couldn't move with the back pain and the bleeding got worse each time I passed stools. Had all the usual tests and all came back clear; there is nothing they can do with regards to bringing colonoscopy date closer. They are not so concerned about the bleeding as it's bright red so I just have to manage the pain at home and wait a month for my appt. I'm sure it's not just IBS.... They briefly mentioned Kidney stones and then threw it out.

Hey anomaly....It is very frustrating to wait for 1 month in this situation....i can get it....But good thing is they could rule out any major causes....now colonoscopy will give you the proper answer...Just wait for your appointment and don't get panic...that will help you to reduce your symptoms a bit..
