Second endoscopy this week

Hi Chris,

After my first endoscopy on 24/11/15, I am scheduled for another one this Friday 4th.  Between the two scopes, I have reduced around 5 kgs and eating smaller portions.  some of the weight loss is due to stress but I have almost stopped drinking alcohol, not drinking any soft drinks and I've never been a fan of chocolates.

after the healing dose of Nexium 40 mg for 2 months, I am back on Nexium 20 mg once a day and so far I haven't been getting any acid reflux.

on a few occassions on last 2 weeks, I did manage to over-eat and I started getting reflux (minus acid) so I know that over-eating is my problem so If and when I do it, I get reflux.  I'm mindful of that fact.

At last scope, they could not find any histopathological evidence of Barretts (only visual confirmed but biopsys were negative).

I really hope, and I'm getting nervous, that I don't have barretts and the cardia, as the pathology report said that I had, has settled down.

Hoping for the best and I'll keep you posted post endoscopy.

cheers

Yes, I did get sedated.  It wasn't too bad as I was up within 30 mins .

Thx for the prompt reply...so I take it you will do sedation again on the 4th.

Was there ever a thought to do no sedation.

I am on the fence on what to do smile

Hi Robin - My advice to you would be to have the sedation.  It can be a very unpleasant procedure to have done without that.  I get checked every couple of years and always have sedation.  I have spoken to quite a few people who haven't been sedated and they all wished they had after they had been through the procedure.  Good luck whatever you choose to do.
