Second Herpes outbreak unbearable pain

Hi everyone, I’m new to this so I was just wondering if anyone could help or if there’s ANYONE in the same boat....

I got diagnosed with HSV1 (on genitals contracted from my boyfriend giving oral) in May when I had what I thought what the worst outbreak ever. I had 3 or 4 lesions that were so painful and took about 5 days to heal completely with acyclovir...but I couldn’t get out of bed for at least a week.

I found out that I am pregnant and started my second outbreak last week, itching and tingling. The blisters didn’t appear until Sunday, I got some acyclovir on Monday but the blisters have spread and they’re covering my whole vagina now, there’s got to be like 20+. I’m in SO much pain, I can’t sleep or eat or walk. I’ve been having my salt baths but they’re just not helping this time and are stinging more than soothing. This outbreak is far worse than the first...I thought HSV1 was the milder one! Why do I have way more blisters than last time and why is it 100x more painful and irritating?!? It’s so uncomfortable being pregnant at the same time.

I can’t put any cream on because they don’t prescribe anything in the UK apart from doctors recommend vaseline which does nothing but hurt to apply.

Has anyone else experienced this much pain from their second outbreak? When will my sores stop hurting and start to disappear?!? I need to get back to work and start functioning again.

Thank you in advance for help

I have hsv1 genital. I was diagnosed about 2 months ago so Iv only had one actual outbreak (although I think I’m starting with my second right now) I don’t know exactly what your going through, I’m not pregnant. But my guess would be your immune system is weaker because of you being pregnant which is why your having such a bad outbreak. Are you on any medication or l-lysine ??

I agree with ashley. Pregnancy is stressful and made it worse.

Just wait and see. Try to avoid sex during pregnancy as it can flare herpes. I dont know if antiviral is safe in pregnancy and about the dose. You should tell your dr ofcourse as you must go for caesarian section not vaginal delivery to protect your baby.

You only need a c-section if your having an active outbreak when you go into labor (so just make sure your doctor knows you have it prior to delivery)

Do you think every one will be sure that she is not having an outbreak at time of delivery????? Even mild one????

You will never guarantee if you are in her place

Thank you for replying guys! My GUM clinic gave me 5 days of acyclovir but it doesn’t seem to be getting any better at all and I’m on day 3. It’s SO painful.

I’ve opted for a C Section anyway, just so my baby isn’t at any risk. I’m just worrying that this outbreak is so bad and I physically can’t do anything because I can’t walk!

I would definitely call the clinic now and let hem know it’s not any better yet. They may need a different medication or longer
