Hi, I don't know your condition or circumstances that made you need a hip replacement. However, I had my hip replacement over 5 years ago at the age of 28.

I was okay walking for hours without any pain but I knew it was time to get it done my body was telling is time. My consultant advised me to wait for another year or two, but my body was telling me is time.

So even with my Dr advise and been able to work without pain for hours I went on with my gut feeling and get it done it was best the decision I eve made. My operation took 7 h 45 minutes. My Dr later told me if I have waited for longer he don't know what would happen as my hip was in a very bad condition.

So my advice to you listen to your body.

I read something recently. Consultant said there is a risk in every procedure. He said don't have operation until you think the pain outways the risk. If that makes sense. I had a thr two years ago and am thrilled with the result except for a 11 mm leg length difference for which I have to wear a raise. I would not like it any bigger difference it would cause me megga problems.

It depends. I had mine on the NHS and it took about eighteen months to actually have the op. By that time I was in absolute agony. At the beginning I was not too bad.

Thanks for your reply .I hear what you're saying but waiting list here is 3 years or more and this cross border option could go with brexit.

Thanks for your reply. 3 years at least waiting list here. With last hip I waited too long and had to go privately in the end.

I thought I had waited a long time, I think if I had had to wait three years I would have been taking a one way ticket to Switzerland. I will probably go private next time. Perhaps that is the grand plan!
