Hi Dave. Sorry to hear that the injection has not relieved your leg pain. Hope there is still time for it to work for you The pain in Laura's leg seems to bother her more than her back pain at the moment. She also gets shooting pains down her leg which leave her unable to move momentarily. We were hoping that an injection would help rather than going down the operation route. She sees Mr Arzoglou next Wednesday. I will let you know how she gets on.

Hi Dave. Laura had her appointment at The Spire last night. He recommended a nerve block so we are just waiting for the appointment. He is not ruling out surgery if the nerve block doesn't work but he wants to liaise with her other surgeon who said there was no way he would operate. We are paying for the nerve block as she needs it as soon as possible. She felt much happier after she had seen him. He took the time to listen to her and explain everything. She will have a follow up appointment 5-6 weeks after the procedure. He said it usually works within a couple of weeks but for some people it can take 6 weeks. Hope this procedure is beneficial for you both and you don't have to go down the operation route.

Laura had her nerve block injection yesterday but there has been no change immediately. We are keeping our fingers crossed it will work for her. I have read that it sometimes gets worse before it gets better. I hope your injection has given you some relief. Keep me informed.

Hi Dave
It's nearly 2 weeks since Laura's nerve block and she has had no relief at all. In fact her pain is a bit worse than it was before the procedure. We are trying to keep positive and hope it will gradually get better in the coming weeks. She posted her pain chart back to Mr Arzoglou so we will await the follow up appointment. I hope your pain is continuing to subside. Have you had a follow up appointment yet?

Hi Dave
Really pleased that the nerve root block has helped with your pain.. Laura said her pain level is slightly better today. Was your pain relief gradual or was it more or less immediate. The nurse who discharged Laura said it takes a couple of weeks for it to fully kick in whereas the doctor who did the injection seemed to indicate the relief should be immediate. If Laura could even get 50% pain relief from it it would be better than an operation. Mr Arzoglou said he would consider surgery if the nerve block didn't work. He said the problems are caused by the shape of her spine . I will keep you posted. I hope you continue to improve. Its good to know that these injections do work for some.
