Dear Friends,

I had my left hip operated in the end of 2013, it was called core decompression, which seemed to be gained some time though, it actually weakened my leg and hip, and then I had thr Feb, 2015. Now the other side is collapsed and I will have thr soon. I am kinda happy with my operated side though, I don't know what to expect when I have the other side done too.

I need some feedback from experienced ones.

best,

Tolga

Hi, you will have lots of worries, and they all (almost all) will be gone with time. Do you mind if I ask you your age ?

you will be just fine 6 to 12 months. Just do not worry, and take care of yourself for a while. I can now even squat after 7 months. (well, right side hurts and badly clicks though)

    Hi Tolga

I had my left hip done in April and my rightside has collapsed. I have never felt pain like it. frown

I am happy with my operated side but feel I am not getting the full benifit of it because I am suffering worse than before the first hip was done.

I was told I would be done on September 14th. It was cancled and no fixed date has been re arranged. I hope I am sone before the bad winter weather arrives. Where I am I always get heavy snow so won't be able to go out to walk any where.

How are you coping with the pain and what pain meds are you on ?

I am on so much morphine if the local druggies found out I could start a bussiness.and pay for private treatment eek lol

Hailea, I am covered almost %80 in my country. I feel the same since my operated hip did not hurt that much before. Cold weather is the best for the surgery to minimize the infection. Don't worry about that. You will have ability to walk around once you are healed. I don't use any pain killer or muscle relaxer, just want to see how am I doing. Kinda crazy though, I will make my decision before the doctor make. However,

WoW 80% snow cover already eek

Wel if your leg swells at least you will have an instant ice pack to but on it.

Yes you are right less infections about in the winter. Just got to watch I don't get a cold. I have never had flu in my life so I know I am pretty safe that way.

    Dear Tolga,

Welcome to our circle of Hippies where we share our personal stories, expriences, victories and rants - There is no better place to be , IMHO than here for all your questions and concerns ..

There are many of us who had, just had or are waiting for their 2nd THR ...

I am 13 days post op from Left THR (September 10) after the 1st on March 16 2015 ...

So mine were done within 6 months and I remember the 1st one of course - Do you remember how you felt after your 1st THR ?

Like Hailea (and others) recovery from 1st THR did not fully happen as left hip started to hurt and new Right hip still not strong enough to carry the burden ...

I am not sure what to tell you ... I started to compare the 2 surgeries and was told not to ... I can tell you that that grinding OA pain is gone - of course there is pain - stiffness, heavy leg - a little swelling this time ... the Fragmin injections - all that "doing" but with now 2 good hips - I feel so much more confident and have to watch not to overdo it ...

I do take pain medication, do prescribed exercises and watch the do's and don'ts ... Oh, yeah, the  frequest trips to the loo are back bjut i am more experienced now how to handle it .... leave on time to make it on time ...

Let me know if there is anything specific you want to ask - I am sure other 2nders will share their story too ....

Do you already have a surgery date?

    warm hug

    renee

Thanks for your advices. I assume my next surgery in November since it is still hot in here and my doc does not recommend to have it in this season. My hip is collapsed though, I will wait till then.
