Second opinion

Hi

I tore my Achilles late April. Had surgery May 11. I have been in cast after cast and finally in June was put into a boot and tried to start physical therapy, did two sessions and my therapist contacted my doctor as my foot wouldn't remain upright it always slumps to the right when not in boot and I haven't been able to bare any weight on it at all. Doctor put me back in a cast, I fear it isn't healing right or something else is going on. I have not seen my actual surgeon since the surgery. I always see his PA. I am wrong to think I need to get another opinion from another doctor?

I am so frustrated of not being able to walk and do my normal routine..

Thanks!

    Hi Lori,

Your timeframes sound similar to mine.

I had my tendon operation end of Apr. I had series of cast (8 weeks) to move the foot from equinus to mid equinus to neutral

At week 8, I was switched from cast to boot (with the heel wedge and additional wedge as the foot was still not in neutral) and allowed to start physio

When is your next check up with doctor or surgeon ?

Yes this recovery period is very frustrating but things will improve.
