Second period after removal of Fibroid

Hello I am 42 and recently had a hystercopy and D&C to remove a fibroid about 9mm. the biopsy came back clear . Surgery was on December 16th. i had mild spotting after which stopped. on January 9th i got my first period . it was lighter and only lasted 5 days. my second period started 2/12 with the two days prior spotting. its now 9 days into my cycle and i still have my period. Ive had flooding where i bleed thru the tampon or just a regular type of period. it doesnt seem to be slowing at all. i originally got the surgery because my periods where lasting 14 days at a time for 3 months. i thought the removal of the fibroid would help.

Does anyone have experience that their periods got better or should i contact my dr since it appears its not the fibroid maybe hormonal.
