Second Surgery Help

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hi guys.

I hope someone can help. Ive had problems with a postnatal drip since I was a child, and since I can remember I havent been able to breath out of my nose.

Doctors put me on antihistamines and countless sprays. None of which helped! I finally went to see a ENT doctor and had a CT scan. They then pushed me to have an operation which was done relatively quickly. I am now due my second operation of polyp removal a few months after my last - as I had another CT scan showing no space for air at all...

I literally cannot blow my nose. I have a constant headache and I am constantly swallowing mucus.

If my nose drips it comes out green...

More than anything, I cannot sleep! I wake up every 15mins. And I am just so so so drained.

Doctors havent done any tests on me... Should I be looking at getting any tests done other than a CT?

I am going for surgery next week and would like to not have to have this done again!

Any help/advice appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Antonia, See if you can get another ct scan just to rule out sinus problems. Did you do an Allergy test? I use an herbal saline mist. Also try an inhale steam vapor. Drink lots of water also thins out mucas. Were you diagnosed with any deviated septum issues.? Also run a humidifier if it is too dry, your nose needs humidity. Try to gargle with salt water, then a teaspoon of honey. I have had a ct scan, all clear. I have a slight deviated septum, by can breathe through my nose. I too have a post nasal drip, and both nostrils slightly congested. I think I have developed an allergy. Did you ever think it might be a food allergy? Im not fond of surgery, your turbinates are v ery important in humidity the air before it goes into your lungs. There is a lot of nerves also in your nose. Also some people get the surgery and still have problems. It is never 100 percent. If it is the last resort, then surgery could work. I hope you feel better, keep me posted,

      Hi John,

Thank you for your response!  My ct scan is pretty recent and it doesn’t show any air... which explains why I can’t breathe out of it at all.

I use a saline mix daily but hasn’t really helped lately.  I’ve never had an allergy test, they just make me take antihistamines twice a day. I think I’m going to ask for an allergy test, as I could definitely do with knowing.

I felt amazing after my first surgery for about four months, now it seems to have come back even worse this time round.

I just don’t want to keep going round in circles with surgery every year. I will defo try a dehumidifier and steam vapour! See if that helps me a little.

      Thank you 😊
