SED Rate Graph shows ups and downs

Hi all, I'm one of the many whose doctor is reluctant to up my prednisone.  But last time she said, yes I could take 20mg for 3 months, and then she's not going to prescribe it again.  So I started at 20, after being miserable at 15, and soon felt better, if not perfect.  After a month I took a blood test and found my SED rate was 45, down from 52 and 64 of my last tests. I thought I'd take 19mg the next month, 18 the next and so on.  Would that work?  I'm not sure because I still feel pretty crummy in my arms and legs.  Part of my problem is in my lower back, so I can't tell which is which PMR or back.  But why would my arms hurt from a bad back?  Thanks for any info.

    I guess a low carb breakfast would be eggs?  I am used to having oatmeal.

      There's lots of things that you can have for breakfast - eggs tend to predominate in recipes though! In many countries people eat cold meats, cheeses, vegetables and so on for breakfast. Things like natural yoghurt or Skyr are common too. Part of it is to think outside your own cultural box - foods that are "breakfast foods" vary greatly from country to country.

      I have porridge once a week, I love porridge and also muesli once a week. I am really boring, you can tell what I am eating depending on the day! I do have boiled eggs twice a week though. I am terribly fussy about food, but the things I like I really like. I am sure it was because I had to clear my plate when I was a child. Now as an adult I can become fussier and fussier.

    Thanks Eilleen and Anhaga.  I was also called a "picky eater" as a child.  Unlike so many folks, I cannot ABIDE tomatoes.  So many recipes have them.

      Tomatoes are regarded as a no no with steroids as they are part of the nightshade family which is considered not to be a good idea. I must admit I do have tomatoes occasionally as I quite like them. I was not allowed to be a picky eater as a child that is why I am a picky eater now. I must admit it does make life easy when choosing things on menus though.

      Um - I live on tomatoes! I've tried without and it made no difference - just I missed them!

      Me? I will try (nearly) anything once. I'm married to the picky eater - wasn't much option to be a picky eater when I was a child, you ate it or went without. But one thing I couldn't eat was bacon that wasn't crisp - still the same. OH likes it half raw...

      By my standards at least! Not sure I like it at the crumbling stage either though.
