It will go away - but asking when is a case of how long is a piece of string. Patience pays - learning to accept the downsides will save you energy to rearrange your lifestyle. You have to learn to go with the flow and not reduce too fast - or this is what happens. There is no quick answer.

Have you got symptoms? Sed rate will go up with a cold not just the PMR. Cutting carbs drastically not only helps the weight gain but also helps reduce the cholesterol - I can't explain the reasons here and now but it does work. I've lost weight and got my cholesterol level down to normal from something like that even while still on pred. Only carbs I eat 90% of the time is salad and non-root veggies - cheese, eggs, fish and meat with salad and grilled veg.

Hi Teri you really are having a bad day.  I had one of them last week, I get so angry and frustrated but sure the only person suffers is me, I think I get fed up more than angry.  Eileen is right, acceptance is the key, patience and being kind to yourself.  Sometimes we just have to hear again what we already know.  I was on 20mg of pred 12th November, 9 weeks later I reduced to 17.5, then 21st Feb 15mg, I had to double up to 30mg on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday because of extensive dental work.  There are good times ahead Teri.  Good luck.   Pat

    Hi Teri,

i know this doesn't really help but you are going to feel better if you get your pred sorted out.  I think we all have days where we get frustrated and angry enough to break something, have a one person pity party and cry our eyes out. I still do sometimes but not often.  I started at 20mg just over 2 yrs. ago and managed to reduce to 1 1/2 once for a week then a flare and back up to 7 1/2. Slowly reduced again to 4mg and was great for over 2 mths so tried 3 1/2mg.  Within 3 weeks the worst flare yet and  I went up to 5 then 7 1/2 and finally 10mg before my symptoms eased.   Yes.....  I was REALLY frustrated, mad and cried.  I got wonderful support from the super women and men on this forum.  It's kinda like a big hug (I happen to think hugs are about the best thing in the world).

Until the PMR leaves, prednisone is our friend and we just need to take whatever dose we have to to manage the symptoms. The trick is patiently finding the lowest dose.  You know you're going to get there and it's just going to take a little longer and you are not alone on this bumpy ride.

Hang in there and hope you're feeling better soon.

    Hugs,  Diana💕

Grieving, our bodies are different, moon face ( for me it's chipmunk), terrible groaning, as I get to the floor for yoga, nap after nap, isolation because I'm unreliable, and more for each for each of us. Grieving  that's what I'm doing, for my old body that could do yoga without all this stiffness, that the thought of swimming wasn't overwhelming. Anger is part of the greiving process too, for me it's a sadness because I'm also aging and who I was two years ago is gone faster - the imflammation and predisome have done that.

this sounds depressing! But I'm not - just learning to live differently, with acceptance and love.

    thanks to for sharing.
