Sedation and ME

Hi all.

I went to the dentist wearing nothing but red shorts  No chance!

I went on Tuesday to have a tooth out (next to the wisdom) and opted to have the knock-out treatment.

I've had this twice before but not even half as bad as this time.

I was ok on monday, even Tuesday morning, went to the dentist, i rember being calm hearing the heart monitor bleeping (82 bpm), just about feeling the needle going in and he said to relax my wrist then boom, i'm out.

Next thing i rember is waking up about 4 hours later in my own bed  :?

My mum, who went with me, said after the op had finished and they called her in, i was up and talking  with them, even talking to the taxi driver on the way home then walking (drunk like) to the house, up the stairs and to my bed where she told me to have a lay down.

The last 2 times i could remember what was going on but not this time

I have since had to take time off from work from feeling soo rough and very shakey.

Went in for 3 hours today but had to come back home

Is normal for a ME sufferer and also on the tablets "Sertraline" :?:

We did check out with the GP if the seditive and these would mix and he said it was fine.

    Hi James

Sorry to hear about your experience - not very pleasant at all sad

ME suffererers do tend to be hyper-sensitive to anaesthetics - both general and local. It varys from person to person - so obviously the combination of your ME, your medication plus the GA knocked you for six.

My dentist suggested that should I ever need an injection in the future he will give me a non-adrenaline one - and I think this is something we should all bear in mind as we over-react to adrenaline.

I think you should also think seriously about taking a break from work. It's not something that any of us really want to do, but I have to say that I have improved considerably since giving up my job, and probably had I had a decent break earlier, I would not have been so unwell in the first place.

Easier said than done though sad

Have you met Jay, our other token male? 8) He is now back in our midst (brave man!) - but it would be a nice change for him to have some male company for a change, and not bawdy females with an obsession for red speedos

Have a good weekend, and hope you feel brighter soon.

Thanks Katie, thats some very intresting info, will have to ask them next time i go back there.

I got rather worried about feeling this rough in case something was seriously wrong with me, well apart from my head that is wink

I really don't want to give my job up if i can get away with it, but i will have a word with the GP and my boss to have some time off.

I'm glad Jay is back although feel sorry for him, he now will get some stick again wink

p.s. Seeing my post again above, i'm very sure the forum alters what we all type, either that or my keyboard doesn't comunicate properly

Since when do you spell 'remember' as rember :? :x
