No. You said optician, you need an optometrist or anopthamologist. Gps are useless with dry eye,i have it. Please ask them to look at the glands lining your upper and lower lids,im not talking tear duct. Specifically ask them to check for mgd a leading caus of dry eye, also have them check your water layer rate of evaporation time and for another caus of dry eye called demodex mites. A gp will just tell you to take over the counter eyedrops that for many is useless. Xx

Sorry it was an optometrist I saw, guessing they have varying skill in dry eye. How have you got treatment or assessment for it. Could a gp refer to an opthalmologist? Or is this unlikely?

Actually i had to go to 3 optometrist and 1 opthamologist. The most important thing is they examine the glands, please do look up mgd. 2 times my reg eye doc never checked for it,which is rediculous, took the other doc to find it.so if you go ask specifically to check for mgd also belpharitis. I didnt need a referrel. Keep going til you find someone who knows what they are doing. There is a blepharitis forum on here you should go to,it deals with causes of dry eye. Lots of info.

Me and my daughter both have different eye conditions and GPS are useless.

The only good thing is a referral to hospital, although an option can do this.

I get severe dry eye and I use artific tears, it's a good start of you're not currently using any treatment. Most optitions sell them.
