seeing specialist tomorrow (15.5.2014) nurse/doctor advice please?

after several types of medication over several months and endless list of symptoms I have lost my rag! I am going to ask for the operation tomorrow, just wondered if there are any nurses/doctors on here that can tell me how likely I am to get what I want?

everything the doctor has advised me hasn't worked, raising the head of the bed, limited exercise, feeling a 'hungover' level of sickness all the time, watching my diet, you name it I've tried it and I cannot stop crying every day because my stomach hurts so much.

Hi Carla, I've been battling with hospitals for nearly 3 years, they just don't care and I'm still waiting!!!. I have a sliding hiatus hernia which they told me would not give me pain!!!. I get heartburn, I can hardly eat anything without hideous bloating and pain under my ribs!!. Let me know if you have any luck cause the last specialist I saw said there is nothing more I can do for you!!!! Good luck .

hi thanks both for your replies smile

well ive had a step in the right direction at least today, they have referred me to have a laporoscopy a wire down the nose i believe, blood tests, an ultrasound on my abdomen, and from these results they will refer me for surgery, think they wait t see what these results are first however, Lesley i think keep going back if they dont listen, asked a lot of people and they agreed i was doing right by keep going back and persisting smile i hope it works for you,

    al thanks, what is TECTA?

Tecta is Pantoprazole, which is what they gave me, useless for me like all the others!!. Laporoscopy is keyhole, they go in the side of your abdomen with a camera, this is what i want and they said no!!! Glad you got somewhere x

Oh god thats a ph study test!, i had that done, and to be honest, it was hidious!. Firstly they put a scope up your nose and down to your stomach. They couldn't get the tube in as my nazal passage was too tight, it took 2 nurses in the end. I had to eat small cubes of bread every few minutes and swallow 5 mls of water after for nearly an Hour!!, that measured my gut funtioning to see if it was working properly. You may not have that one, then the ph study they do the same again, but a smaller scope which they link up to a machine and tape it to your face and neck, you have a monitor strapped to your belt and every time i had pain i had to press a button, and every time i had acid i had to press another button, and list all the time down on a sheet!. They say you can eat normally but you can't, cause every time your food goes down the gut contracts and pulls on the scope which yanks your nose so just water soup worked for me. I was gutted cause i went through all that and ended up pullong the scope out in my sleep!!!. My acid was 33.5 and the normal is 12.5, but the rest was inconclusive cause i pulled it out!!, so i still don't know what the pain is caused by!!. I feel sick sometimes, mainly if i;m hungry, but for me its the constant pain :-( x
