Seem to be stuck in prodromal stage.

I am a healthy 52 year old male. Over Labor Day weekend I experianced a nasty, odd feeling cold. After the cold cleared-up I had lingering fatigue and on odd tingle sensitive sensation on my left trunk in a band to my back.
After reading up on the net, it seemed I was in the prodrome stage of shingles. I figured I would wait for the rash, then go to Dr. for antivirals.
It's now been 5 weeks and I have no rash or any other symptoms except the odd trunk sensations. They are not painful, but very pronounced. Not sure what to do.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff - I believe shingles can present very different symptoms - there doesn't seem to be any hard or fast rule - it's variable . The fact this has been with you for 5 weeks i would suggest seeing your gp for advice - take care and good luck

Jeff,
You seem to be very astute. The symptoms of feeling cold, fatigue, and a band of tingling in one side of your torso points a clear picture of Shingles without the Rash, or "Zoster Sine Herpete."
I would try to find an excellent Physician to discuss this with you.
I am a Nurse Practitioner in the States and have had Herpes Zoster-Shingles in my right ear every three to five weeks for the past twenty one years.

I went to Dr. today. He listened to me describe my symptoms. Didn't perform any tests and said "sounds like shingles without rash, sometimes the rash never appears".
I am now on an Rx for antivirals. We'll see what happens. I have absolutely no pain, but that sensation on my trunk and back.
