Seeming to forget to breath temporarily when awake

This has been happening for a few weeks now, I'll be doing work and all of the sudden I need to breath deeply because I have either not been breathing temporarily or my breathing has been to shallow. There was a point a few weeks ago where this happened but I felt like I was going to faint for a few seconds and everything was very tingly. I can't find anything online that explains why this is happening because I know its not sleep apnea. Should I be concerned?

Do you know that you don't get sleep apnoea? I get sleep apnoea and have the same sensation as you when I am awake occasionally. It is central sleep apnoea rather than obstructive.

How do you know if you have sleep apnoea? Would I have to go somewhere for a test?

You can film yourself sleeping, or you can ask your gp if there are any sleep clinics in your area. Do you ever wake up gasping for breath? Or has a partner ever mentioned anything about you suddenly waking up panicky? There are certain medications which can make sleep apnoea worse like antihistamines, codeine, antidepressants or antianxiety medication. Also alcohol can affect it.
