I have been suffering with degenerative disc and hip pain, and I too have had all over body pain, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia which is a severe pain litterally all over your body....... If you press slightly into e.g elbow joint it is painful to touch and the same applies to other parts of my joints, I am no doctor but I am just saying that it could be something like this? I would suggest to get blood tests done to rule out other arthritic conditions like Rhuematoid arthritis?? as many rheumatic conditions can have similar symptoms.
You should see your GP as soon as possible, and make sure he/she listens to you as it has took a year for my diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, after seeing several specialist that looked at me as though its was in my head!!!!! Thank goodness I changed doctors and he got investigations rolling!!!!!
I hope you get your answers quicker than me
Take care

I have severe pain in my legs too within more groin sometimes also and all over body pain, as one of our members says \"\"Knowledge is power\"\" and if you simply type in \"pain in top of legs\" Fibromyalgia comes third on google. To be honest I had research my symptoms as I felt no-one was listening to me, at one point ........ a Occupational Health Doctor first predicted my condition..... I told my doctor, he put this down I thought I have it! Now after seeing a second Pain management (the first was a registrar) the second was a consultant both give different views the consultant said I had fibromyalgia by my pressure points.
Every day I am in pain, from walking, the pain is in my hip over my thighs into my knees and the feeling is like a stabbing type pain. I have this awful pain in my neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, knees ankles and feet. My condition first started in my hip and thigh.
I have had blood test done several times and my sediment rate shows what's called elevation, I have had full blood count done and RF factor (fine) etc and the F B C showed anemia, I was told this wasn't related to my condition.
I read that you should write a diary in order for the doctor/specialist to get a picture of your ailments and then treatment can be made, however its not always easy as it took a year for my diagnosis.
I have had sciatica in my legs to this is more like a shooting pain and generally you cant move your limb to a certain level without pain, I had it in my arm and I could not raise my hand over my head as I could only raise it below the shoulder height.
I hope you do get your answers as there is nothing worse than being in pain and not knowing what going on!!!! Good luck on Thursday x
Take care Coly

I think that what is going on with your legs will hopefully be made clear after the scan. I found that my leg symptoms changed over time. When I first prolapsed my disc (L5/S1) and had a problem too with L4/L5 in January 2007, at first the problem was all in my back. Then came the pain in my leg (sciatica) to my knee, then below my knee, then the numbness started, then the burning, then my toes got all scrunched up and I couldn't move them. Shortly before the first operation, I had this really weird thing for a few days where a few inches above my knee there was this sensation of insects walking over my leg. Then that went numb too. Since the second oper.ation, I have a whole load of new things going on with my leg. It's not too bad during the day, but nightime is awful. Depending on which side I lie and how I position my leg, I have pain and/or numbness in different parts of my leg. I actually prefer the pain. Sometimes the whole of my leg and buttock just seems to be made of concrete and I would like nothing more than to be able to unzip it and park it at the end of my bed. That only happens if I manage to fall asleep for a few hours but most of the night I hardly sleep, just moving this way and that, experiencing the different combinations of pain and numbness.
I think it is a natural progression and as you have had your prolapse a similar period of time to me, it may be that in time your current symptoms will pass and you'll move onto the next phase.
Yesterday for the first time since the second operation nine weeks ago, I thought I would have a day without medication to see how I got on. The first 12 hours or so were okay. After about 18 hours I was going downhill fast. I had to go out to walk my dog and was in a lot of pain in my back and leg. Same thing as before when I feel the pain...when I put my foot down, it hurt in several places in my leg, when I picked my foot up that hurt in other places. More sciatica type pain, but at the top of my leg at the front and nearly horizonal. If I turned slightly that hurt my back even more, the further I walked the more my back hurt. I have to say that the whole thing was quite rhythmic in an odd sort of way, but getting progressively worse. After 24 hours I took the tablets again.....the experiment was over!!!
All is very definately not well and I shouldn't still need full medication post two operations, nine weeks on. I have another MRI booked for next Monday then back to see the Consultant. She knows that something is wrong, I guess soon I'll know what!!!!! When I was okay after the first twelve hours without the meds I thought that maybe I had misread my current situation and that things weren't as bad as I thought. By the end of the experiment, it was worse than I thought. Worse of all was the fragility. Before the first operation even with all the pain my back felt structurally strong. But yesterday I was aware of the weakness. Personally I think that a shove or a fall and I'll be back in hospital. Which is a tad unfortunate because I have started catching my foot again when I walk.
I just dread needing a third op, but my instinct is that that is so!
TFU
I guess what I am saying is that my symptoms have not been consistent throughout

I'm sorry to hear that you're still in alot of pain and discomfort
, it sounds like you have severe Nerve damage if it's affecting your walking. My pains slowly getting better (I think) but I'm still taking all of my meds, don't know what the pain would be like if I stopped taking them. I think I'd probably have the same reaction as yourself. I still can't do very much without my back starting to hurt.
I hope your MRI Scan goes ok next week, surely there can't be anything else wrong with your back after all you've been through.
I had the same funny feeling of something crawling over my leg, it's a strange feeling isn't it. My foot is still totally numb and it's painful especially at night time and it's always cold as ice, I have a slight improvement in the feeling down the back of my left leg.
I know what you mean about feeling weakness after your last op, I feel the same I thought that after the 2nd op I'd be up and about in no time, get back to work and be normal again but that's not how it is. It makes you feel lower and lower as the days go by. I know it's hard but you have to keep going and believe that everything will eventually get sorted out.
Let us know how you get on after your Scan, try to keep positive.
Bye for now.

Sorry TFU you are still in pain, I hope you recovery is soon, ready for the summertime at least, I wouldn't stop taking your meds hun until your GP says you can??? I tried it once and got kind of the trembling sensation wasn't a nice feeling but then the pain kicked in anyways and I had to take them again (this was when I was taking tramadol) but now I take Tramacet (tramadol with paracetamol) along with my gabapentine and celeoxib. The problem was I felt too wasted and as I have a 2 year old it was hard work feeling too drowsy!!!!
I understand you Angela too I have had similar sensations but as I have ddd I was told my discs aren't severe enough to have a operation and so the meds is all I rely on ......... I can recall what you said ........
\"\"I had the same funny feeling of something crawling over my leg\"\". My hip and knees feel kind of numb and it's painful especially at night time and it's always cold as ice. I was told by my Pain Management Consultant I had neuropathic pain and fibromyalgia (as mentioned previously)
I do hope wilks jm you get sorted soon its not nice being doped up on the meds as I feel drowsy at times when my pain is so severe, I do hope your not waiting too long for your operation fingers crossed eh xx
xColyx Hope you get your MRI soon hun then at least you know whats going on, hope you and everyone are having a good day too xx
Take care everyone.
Kind regards
