Seen Consultant

I went back to see the consultant yesterday, about my other hip. He has said that as it's not too bad at the moment he would rather delay doing the op for 6 months. If it gets worse I have to ring his secretary for an earlier date. This gives a longer time for my first hip to heal properly. I am 18 weeks post op with my first hip. I am walkiing without support although sometimes it's a little sore round the scar. I am so glad I had it done, my life is returning to normal slowly.

We have just had a holiday on the Norfolk Broads and I didn't find any problem at all with getting on and off the boat, did my excersises and walking when I could, but really had a great time and feel so much better for it.

I hope everyone before and after hippies are all doing ok and have plenty of support and help to get them through. It's great to be back amongst my friends on here too.

Love Gillxxx

That's good news for you. Hope you enjoyed your holiday.

I have my appointment 2nd November for my other hip. The MRI said there was no sign of AV but there is arthritis there and he said. " I think we are looking at a hip replacement " but find out weather it's a repair or replacement on the second. I'm three months in on my first hip replacement and I am back at work an restricted duties until the result from my consultant. So fingers crossed. X

    you take care. X

I'm 4 months post-op rTHR. I was told both would need doing. Ideal with a 3 month recovery between. I have my 2nd outpatient appointment Monday and I'm hoping I will be put on the list. For our hospital the waiting list is 3 months, so if I go on the list Monday, I'll effectively be 4 months behind schedule. I know every day my right hip is getting stronger, but my left hip is declining rapidly as that has been carrying most of my weight since 8th May.

My biggest worry now is the financial strain the extra 4 months are having, while I'm on SSP and Income Support.

If you have no pain and no problems with

mobility, and can do all the things you want

to do you can wait. Good luck.

before I had my left hip done I couldn't drive, couldn't walk, couldn't get across the road, my life was pitiful, I was drugged up on 7 pain killers and ori-morph to help me get comfortable and to sleep. The day after the operation I was given sa psair of crutches and all I wanted to do was to stand as I had no pain just a little discomfort. I grew 2 inches in 2 days as I unfurled myself from the pain. People have told me I look 10 years younger. As that hip progresses to as full recovery I can feel my other one going down the same path, and I don't want it to get as bad as the first one. My Consultant said I was on his books again and on the radar which is what I wanted so if it deteriorates quickly then I can phone for an earlier appointment.

I really don't have any problems with my new hip, I do excersises and walk every day, I can't kneel down to garden yet but that will come I'm sure. I am driving now more than I ever did and really enjoying life. Hope this helps xxx
