Seizures/variant migraine

Posted , 4 users are following.

I have been having a terrible time with episodes of ''fuzzy head'' ,drowsiness, episodes where I can't think,as if my brain has stuck, visual disturbances where everything looks strange/unreal,sometimes my speech is affected. In between these episodes I have a permenantly heavy headed feeling. At the moment it is so bad that I am unsafe to drive. After a stroke like episode last year I was diagnosed with a rare form of migraine and my GP thinks that the recent problems are part of this.I have been commenced on epilim as a preventative measure but not sure they are working.Do any of you out there suffer with the same or similar?Do you think or have you been told that it is part of your fibro? This is devastating my life at the moment and I really need your help!.....When they thought I'd had a stroke they did scans which showed I had advanced grey matter loss in the frontal lobe......I am so scared of developing dementia.

Lily let me tell you about my 'fuzzy head'....My GP has only just suggested that I may have Fibromyalgia and my experiences of a 'fuzzy head' scared me as I thought I had early dementia, I'm 47. I got out of shower a few eeks ago, sat on the bed for what seemed like a few minutes, then got up and thought I had better dry my hair, looked in the mirror and saw that I had already done it. Scared me to death as I couldnt even remeber doing it. The other day I was watching Bargain Hunt or something, and couldn't understand the concept (exchange) of money for a few minutes. Couldnt work out how to X something by 2 and a half on my calculator the other day...of course its 2.5 but I had no idea (In front of my boss) at the time. tried several times to say 'morning' the other day but could only say 'Yawning'. Oh dear.....I have a sense of humour about it now bit its very disconcerting when its happening. You are not the only one X

It scares me to death when it happens!....I think all the knowledge us nurses have comes back to bite us in the bum when we are ill because we imagine all sorts!...Whilst I would not wish fibro on my worst enemy,it does help to know that I am not the only one. x

PS... I am a nurse, overworked and stretched to the limit. I wondered if that was the cause of my problems. How awful (A job in tesco sounds inviting) ;o)

If I had a pound for every time I dreamed of stacking shelves in Tesco I would have been able to retire a lot sooner than 50!
