Self-Cathertirisation safely

I have a urinary stricture and have to do this regularly and would like to gather others experience so I can do this with confidence. Thing is I have had two UTIs in a year which led to kidney bug as well so that necessitated antibiotics once the type of bug was identified by sample testing.

Once every three weeks I have a shower wash everything and then get a new catheter from it's sleeve and insert it to drain then draw it out immediately. The next day the flow is improved. Usually in that time my flow (self measured so not precise) goes from say 12ml/s to say 15ml/s. A small increase which so far is holding.

I am looking for ways to improve on the hygiene front. Is there a better system rather than soap and rinse. I do wipe the catheter plastic sleeve before I break into it when ready to go. Perhaps in the UK I can by some wipes of the proper type to clean the unit and flesh just before. Advice there appreciated.

Furthermore I am wondering if the best way to empty the bladder under these conditions is to insert the catheter until it starts to empty and then pull it out letting the larger part of the urine flow out behind it doing a normal flush thus any bug is flushed at the same time.

Any comment most welcome. Cheers.
