Self diagnosis of LS

Posted , 8 users are following.

Good afternoon, I have been suffering on and off for a while now with itching in my anal region especially at night and I ntoiced some slight red bleeding especially after being out walking or going for a run. My bottom feels really uncomfortabel when I am sitting and I thought I saw a white spot as well. These symptoms seem to be pointing me towards LS but as you are all aware , currently it's impossible to get a GP apointment due to the worrying times we are currently living through. I am looking for some advice as to what I could use topically until such times as I can get to actually see a GP for proper confirmed diagnosis. I presently using Vaseline before going for a walk and some Hydromol cream for washing . I am also on Vagifem twice weekly for VA . Thank you so much .

Try Epson salt baths. They have helped me a lot and continue with Vaseline until you get an appointment.

hi...organic coconut oil works very well also...make sure when u do get an appt. it is with someone (GYN) that has knowledge with LS...as so many doctors do not and otherwise u will go from doctor to doctor before u find the right one. and get relief.....best of luck...

You can also use Hemorrhoid cream and diaper cream with zinc.

I found the oils just ruined all of my clothes and my couch.

    Also I don’t wear underwear.

But most importantly bath three times a week with Epson salt.

    Hope this helps.

HI Evelyn, I first recognized LS from an itchy anus as well. The emollients are fine, but remember this is an internal imbalance, an autoimmune disorder.

When I first realized something out of the ordinary two years ago, I found this site and read messages back 6 years or more. It was holiday time and I couldn't see a doc. I learned about Vitamin D3 deficiency worldwide mentioned here and another person found help/healing from MSM.

Well I already was taking Vitamin D3 from my cardiologist (I'm 74 and that was a surprise discovery itself only a few years before). I upped my D and got through the holidays reducing the pain of going poo. Really the only change was upping my D intake. I've since searched online for all the nutritional aspects of autoimmune conditions and now take them all. You can find my list in my discussions tab at my profile - click on my name.

OH, and the bit of blood implies that your skin is splitting. I have used Desitin -a baby diaper rash ointment made out of ZINC - when needed. I believe it is more useful than a petroleum-based product. Zinc is known for its skin healing capacity.

Emuaid is a godsend and amazing with the itch. It's pricey but lasts ages. I bought my pot last summer and it's still half full and I use it almost every day.

If nothing that has been suggested makes you more comfortable, I would try an over the counter steroid cream. Just about all of us who have been diagnosed with LS use a stronger steroid.

I assume you are in the UK(?) Have you already tried to make an appt with your GP? I am in the US and GPs are seeing their regular patients (including mine).

Whoever you see you have to make sure they are familiar with LS . Many women who have posted were initially misdiagnosed by GPs and even GYNs. I saw a GYN who specialized in vulval skin problems, was diagnosed and put on hormone cream and steroid. Two years later still using both. My GYN told me all the other suggestions will soothe but only the steroid will keep it under control.

First you need to be properly diagnosed. If you can go directly to a specialist it might save you time and discomfort. Good luck.

Thank you Beverly, I am in UK and GP not seeing any patients unless emergency. I am happy to wait meantime and will try some of the suggestions.

I hate to be posting this in the post of another person but for some reason i can't find the option to start a new discussion. Anyone know how to fix this?

So my issue is kinda related. No idea if this is Ls but it's not the first time its happened and basically sometimes I get a red sore to the touch "line" from my buttcrack into my anus. it doesn't ever itch but burns only to touch. this past week it happened again, and its been here for some time now... it started out a darker shade of red and now after consistently applying a baby diaper rash cream it has settled into a faded slightly shiny pink? I can't go see a doctor about this because I'm in quarantine... I even tried a sitz bath with borax to heal the skin.... any ideas? WARNING: Will attach photos:

    Hey Evelyn,

I purchased Emuaid online recently. it cost me around £40 & appears to have been extremely helpful in reducing dryness. i have loss of pigmintation in certain areas & there has been no change to that yet.

I sympathise with you because I have also been unable to secure a GP appointment due to the ongoing pandemic. I did, however, contact my local sexual health clinic (I live in Scotland), who were extremely helpful. They provided me with a telephone appointment and I discussed my symptoms with them. They prescribed me an ointment last week to use to wash my genital areas and a cream. Perhaps you could contact your local clinic because I found it to be extremely helpful and received a same day call back.
