Self harming and having an op

Hey!

I am having an operation on the 26th Feb as I have a 11cm cyst on my ovary but I also suffer from different mental health illnesses and I self harm but I know they get funny if you have Any cuts ect.

I have one currently with stitches but that one should heal in time but my issue is that I SH on a daily basis and I am worried they won't do the operation. My support worker from my mental health team said today about my self harm

And my op as he says if I carry on I'll lose too much blood which will effect my body.

I somehow need to reduce for this op but just don't know how to as I SH for many reasons.

Any advice would be great!

You are at a cleft stick, you need the op, they want you to stop cutting, it seems like a no brainer, stop cutting, if you are short of blood the risks will be greater and you may need more blood transfusions if they are needed to keep you stable. Many operations may not need bloods normally, although you cut that may change, you may need blood or plasma. You need to get rid of the cyst, prove to those who are standing by you you can take your problems in hand

    Good Luck

I know what I need to do but it's not that simple. Due to my mental health i SH as have flashbacks and a lot of other stuff on a daily basis. If it was that easy I would of done it.

My team want my self harm to reduce which I understand but without dealing with the issues why I do it I can't stop

We all enter a time of life where we need to consider our future and take control of our lives. I was very much like you in the past, I had problems trying too change direction in my life. It I had not turned to the support I was given I would not be here now.

You need to consider the reasons why you cut, if it is to, sad to say, looking for attention. I am not saying it is. or if it is caused by the need of pain you now need to push forward and approach and learn techniques to change your live choices. You should have had coping techniques explained to you and it is those you need to try in a serious manner. You need help and now it is only you that can do that.

In my case I made massive changes to my life even though I still suffer from my disability. It was not that easy and now I have gained confidence and moved on. I still need CBT every now and then to make sure I am ok. Although it is tough love and no-one actually will ever panda to my needs, they are very strict and I get beaten down. Their outlook towards me is This is your life be responsible for it. Onwards and Upwards.

Good luck with this needed Surgery
