Sensitivity and dry skin

Good morning hipsterz! Was wondering, I am now 3 week post op of my 2nd surgery, as you all know I dislocated first hip after 3 weeks and had to have a hip revision, so now I have to incisions about 4 inches apart. I'm wondering if you fine folks have experienced sensitivity to the area? Like even a sheet or clothing bothers it? If so what can be done or is this part of healing? Also my skin, particularly my legs look like a snake shedding its skin!! It's so ugly!! Please know, kinda embarrassing, but I still have not been able to shower! Why? Well because of strict hip precautions I am on one leg, no hip flex past 80% and my shower has a large step over to get over in order to get in shower. And I tried the other day but I was still to far away and hopping one one leg became more a hazard so I had to take another frickin "sponge" bath!! 😞😩😢 Any suggestions to this dry, sensitive skin issue? Thank you! 🤗🤗

Hi Linda
poor you????
I think the sensitivity is all part of the healing process, but I use bio oil for the scar area, just massage it in after washing every day which has helped get the nerve endings working again.
I too have had dry skin on my legs and arms, I've just been using a body moisturiser which seems to work. Molten Brown isn't cheap, but at this time we need a bit of luxury to cheer us up!
I'm 12 weeks post op and slowly beginning to feel I'm getting back to normal, whatever that is!
Take care and have a good weekend and don't stress over not showering, we've all been there and it will not stop loved ones visiting!!

Hi Linda good to hear from you😂 .
My consultant told me when I mentioned about
sensitivity around scar area that it is the nerves coming together repairing and also the swelling I have around same area is all part of healing and can be with you for months so just another little
thing for use to get through,I've been putting
Bio oil on my scar work it in well and also rub on
legs,as for hairy legs now I've finished my blood
thinning jabs I've taped a lady Razer on the end
of long handled wooden spoon and away I go
where there's a will a girls. Hugs to all xxx

HI,
I would keep an eye on the sensativity of the area. It may just be in the healing process or it may be something else. I had this as well and it did not go away. I was referred to the pain people about 6 months after surgery and had an assessment about 2 months ago. They were looking at a diagnosis of CRPS complex regional pain syndrome. This is where the nerve endings go haywire and causes a pain reaction that is much more that expected. When I have a certain purse and carry it on the operated side, just the light touching of the bottom of the purse on this area is excruciating. Same with bed sheets on a bare hip, or if something touches it lightly. funny thing is that you can touch the area quite hard and I don't have the pain, only with light touching. I also had dry skin and what I would call "mummy" feet with all the flaking and built up skin. I used a skin product with urea in it about 10%. It "deglues" the layers of dried skin, so it a couple of days my problem was resolved.
Best of Luck,
Leah
