seroquel as emergency

Posted , 2 users are following.

I use Seroquel as an emergency drug for anxiety and insomnia. My psychiatrist tells me that it's OK to be used in this way, as long as I keep doses down to 200mg or less at any one time. I find it works very well, and is far superior to the Benzodiazepans due to it's lack of dependence. If I take it at night, I find that I get a good sleep, and can function well the next day.

I take a daily dose of an anti-depressent called Aropax. There seems to be no negative interaction between the two drugs.

I have cut down my seroquel to one quarter of a 150mg tablet at night for sleeping, but take more if im not well mentally with anxiety. Have really painful shoulder at present so sleep poor without any meds so very grateful to have them, as no sleep means relapse of worse symptoms. I am so grateful to doctor for these tablets, but have cut down from 3 a day to just 1/4 at night due to feeling over medicated - they would prefer me to take full dose but i think you have to use common sense and take as needed so you can lead a near enough normal life.

I think thats only the slow-release version - I've regularly cut my quetiapine pills in half with no ill effects. However, probably best to check with a pharmacist first (you don't have to say you're reducing the dose just tell them u don't like swallowing pills or something)
