Serotonin syndrome? Or is my dose too low?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello everyone,

This is my third day taking Sertraline. First day I took 25mg, then lowered it down to 12.5mg for the last two days.

I've had side effects such as hot flashes, feeling like I was going to faint a couple times, no sleep at all, just generally feeling out of it and no appetite. As well as the nausea, shaky hands etc.

During the day I can literally feel the serotonin hitting me, like a mild ecstacy body high without the euphoria.

I'm wondering if I'm just very sensitive to serotonin? Perhaps serotonin syndrome? Or am I taking a dose that is too low so all I'm feeling is the come down from the drug?

Hope you can help,

Ben

this med takes weeks for your body to settle, dont mean to dishearted you but it does get worse before it gets better, as in feeling sick, maybe anxious a bit more etc., but OMG it has giving me a life back, so battle on. can I ask, did you lower the dose or you medical person?

Thanks for the reply Jean! It's just so hard to battle, feel completely out of it - mood swings that scare me. I lowered the dose myself because at firs I thought 25mg was too much. What dose are you on?

The side effects hit me hard also so I start with 12.5 then after the side effects are lessened I move up to 25 slowly. It takes me a while for them to go away its a slow process but they will go away and you will feel better then ever.

Thanks so much for the reply, it has kept me motivated! Did you stay on 25mg or increase to 50mg eventually? I'll update you on the progress!
