Sertaline 6 weeks not much progress

Been on sertaline 50 mg for anxiety approaching 6 weeks and it seems like the initial side effects have returned such as mild nausea and diarrhea, heavy headed off balanced feeling, and anxiety. I'm really confused because from weeks 2-4 I was great. So I'm really wondering when does this really begin to work. This is my first time on an anti-depressant.

I have had stressful situations at home and relationship issues take place so perhaps this plays a role on why I'm feeling like crap and I'm also due pmsing

Hi Jen. I have been taking sertraline for about 4-5 weeks and I have the same feeling. After two weeks I felt a lot better but now it's not so good. I'm on 100mg though and don't want to up it anymore. Maybe your right that subconciously if there are problems floating around it takes a knock. Good luck

Hi Jen. I'm not at the moment but have a referral going through my GP at the moment. The only thing is I worry about missing time from work as it will be during the day apparently. My anxiety makes me not want people at work to know etc as they're a gossiping bunch. I definitely could do with it though because the thoughts I get are very dark and scary and definitely suffer from low self esteem too. I hope you start feeling better soon and things calm down a bit for you. Alan

I was on sertraline 100 mil but was to strong for me! Switched to Lexapro which I have taken before and waiting it out! Only been on it for 1 week so looking for good results again!  They say the full effect of these drugs can take up to 6-12 weeks and for me that seems like a lifetime!

I always think it's strange that they take that long. You would probably feel better without meds in that time.

I guess it takes a while for the body to get adjusted to it
