Sertaline - Angry Outbursts, out of character - HELP!

Hi
I've had a few extreme angrey outbursts, totally out of character for me, realised its only been since starting Sertraline just under 3 months ago. I get the usual over-reacting crying when something upsets me, but it grows into a proper explosion of anger, then breaks down into even more desperate tears because i'm so disgusted with myself for flipping out.
I really think its the tablets, its so way out of my character, frightening for both myself & even more so my boyfriend. I had to apologise again to him this morning after waking up & feeling really awful, yet again, just had enough of feeling like this every bloody morning, I still work - haven't had to take too much time off work, its almost impossible to keep it all together.
I just wondered if anyone else has experience this type of anger whilst on these tablets & if it is part of the process of them working & getting you well again, or if its a bad side effect that means I really should try something else?
Thanks for your time.

Your outburst could very well be due to the tablets.

Have you discussed these outbursts with your GP?

I've got an appointment with my doctor on monday evening to discuss, at the moment I just want to stop taking the tablets until i've seen him. I'm visiting family tomorrow & really don't want to freak out & worry them whilst there.
The only similar experience I had, was I was once prescribed amiltryptaline, which made me very, very angry consistantly & I had a severe panic attack that made me feel like I was dying of a stroke or something. So was stopped. This was a few years ago, & was for the TMJ I suffer (jaw probs from grinding teeth). Hadn't tried anything else till now, with these tablets.
Is it ok to miss the doses until monday? Or will that make things worse?
Thanks so much for your advise.

It isn't recommended that you stop taking these tablets suddenly as they can cause some quite unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

My doc took me off these & put me onto Seroxat instead. Been on them for 3 days. He's told me if i've not noticed a marked improvement within 2 weeks, to go back & we'll try something else.
But, Sexoxat has some seriously mixed reviews in both patient experience & press.
Has anyone had any experience of taking these? Or can offer any advise in the general scheme of anti-depressants, where these come, are they like heavy weight anti-depressants or anything, to warrent some of the bad side effects reported?
Thanks all.

I have just weaned off seroxat after taking them for 6 months. I had minimum side effects, hot sweats being the main one.
As with all drugs, we all react differently and it could take a few different attempts with different AD's to find the one that is right for you.
I was on Citalopram first and oh boy did I suffer on those.
Fingers crossed the Seroxat work as well for you as they did for me. I have been off them completely now since a week last Friday and so far 'holding my own'.
Wishing you all the best

P.S. I also gained a lot of weight while on Seroxat, I just craved food (mainly sweet stuff) in the evenings. If you experience the same effect, try and eat sweet fruits, I know I wish I had as I am now having to try and lose the unwanted extra pounds.
