Sertraline 100mg, Is it worth to wait?
Posted , 4 users are following.
Hi,
Spent a week on 25mg, 12 weeks on 50mg, 2 weeks on 75 and now I am on 100mg and still struggling I am not even able to go to work and I feel so guilty about it. At the end of 12 weeks on 50 I have had some good days like 1 good day per week but not much, more and more bad days with severe struggling. Looking for some hope is there anybody who felt this way and then had success later? Is it worth to wait?

hi bulldozer
I went exactly down the same route as you , went back to surgery and they had Mental Nurse who I saw instead of Dr and got changed to Venlafaxine, now lot better.
Go back

MY DOCTOR WAS TALKING ABOUT VENLAXAFINE WHATS THE TRANSITION LIKE FROM SERT TO VEN

Hi Lee
I found the transition fairly easy.
My Mental Health Practioner
Put me on first week.
started 23rd Sept
Instead of 100mg Sert
50mg Sertand
37.5mg Venlafaxine
2nd week 2 × 37.5mg every day
had a mild head aches and a strange tingling feeling in my head but nothing as bad as side effects of Sert
. Radually After about a month I just felt my mood lift and able to concentrate without constant thoughts going around. occasionally they come but don't last and I can cope.
I still get a bit stressed occasionally because I live in quite a stressful house with family problems.
My practioner said I can take an extra one if required.
In the beginning you may feel a bit more tired and a bit sick but that will past.
I'm sleeping better.
Not panic , if I feel anxious about something, I get the tingling in my head, its almost like the tablets are blocking it becoming full panic.
Good Luck, Give Ven a try.
I hope it helps you

hi Lee.
I just wonder if the Medical Teams try the cheapest drug first, I may be wrong, could be find the one that suits.
I forgot to mention I had Stress related IBS running toilet several times a morning, caused through depression / anxiety, panic, now on Ven
my stools are normal, sometimes a bit constipated but I just up my roughage intake and all sorted.
(as in Musely, porriage, seeds, nuts, fruit, vet. multi seed bread.)
Good Luck

How long are you on 100 mg? You had some good days when you were on 50 mg. So, the med might work for you. You might need to increase your dose. I know people taking 200 mg and add on buspar.

Thank you Chris! Did you have some good days on Sertraline as well or it wasnt good at all for you. I am thinking on changing just very scared from side effects, I was in bed for about 6 weeks because of severe side effects when I started sertraline, it was living hell for me.

So hard to decide whats best. And dont understand why it takes this long, about 16 weeks in and still feeling awful. Iam on 100 mg for 5 days. Does this med work for you? How much have you been taking?

No, Sertraline does not work for me. I took it 2 weeks and stopped because side effects were very bad.
I am taking Cymbalta. It took me about 8 months to feel better. I had to take Xanax 3 times per day, so I can go to work and do house work as normal.
Also, I just took Abilify 2 mg for a week. It helped me almost the next day, feel more energy, less depression.
Do you have any benzodiazepines?

Yes I have got xanax but I dont use it only if I really really need it, very rarely. Really dont know what to do. I think I will wait some more weeks and if not better I will change the med
