Hi everyone, I am a first time poster and first time user of AD. I am sufferer of SA and have been since I was about 14 - heartbeating fast, breathless blushing etc in crowded rooms. Finally went to my doctors 5 weeks ago who prescribed me Sertraline 50mg I was told to take this for 4 weeks and then go back to be reviewed. I had NO side effects whatsoever and cant say I felt any different.. Went back to the doctors 5 days ago who upped by dose to 100mg, this is my fifth day and I don't feel any different and haven't experienced any side effects.. Now I know that everyone body reacts differently to drugs but a lot of people have said they had side effects before they seemed to get better. Has anyone ever had NO side effects but still had positive effects off Sertraline? Thanks everyone!

Hi I was not able to tolerate any Sertraline at all but I was able to tolerant Effexor for years. Everybody tolerates drugs differently. It can take up to 4 weeks for an individual to feel the effects of a increased dosage. Stick with it for a few more weeks. Hope this helps.

    Hi, everyone!

Am on 150mg and also experience the same effects as rich21763 and others.

Dry mouth and not sleeping well has been one of my constant.

As far as feeling like the meds are working, it taking about a month to start to level off and be able to notice the effects of the meds.

Are you still having panic attacks, misssunshine10? If so, you should see your doctor. You may need a higher dose or help with another med along with the Sertraline to get you leveled off. It can sometimes be more of a trial and see situation,  as everyone reacts differently to their meds.

When I started to have bad panic attacks and anxiety, my doctor had me on Clonazepam along with the Sertrline to stop the roller coaster. Did make me very sleepy, bud did the trick and then was weaned off of the Clonazepam.

Hi glad to hear that your medication is working for you did you start off on a smaller dose or go straight onto 150mg ?

I felt like I was OK for a few weeks (not so anxious in crowds ) and the day after I went up to 100mg I was at an afternoon event and I just couldn't relax I had to get out the room felt worse then I had in a while but I have heard that anxiety will get worse before getting better?

The first dosage prescribed to me was 25 mg. (in 2003).

Was taken up to 100 mg when it didn't do the trick and stayed on that dosage until around 2011 when I thought I would try to go off the meds on my own.

Slowly reduced the dosage over a month so as to not go over the edge from abruptly stopping. Thought I was doing fine until a stressful event triggered a bad bout of panic attacks. Needless to say, a trip to the doctor put me back on 100 mg and shortly up to 150 mg to see how that dosage worked.  The higher dosage is needed sometimes to get the build up in your system back to an even level. Have now gone back to 100 mg to see how well that does.

I switched over to generic zoloft about 3 years ago and in the past couple weeks I have been dealing with severe anxiety and obsessive thoughts about my anxiety. I'm thinking of going back to brand name. Has anyone had any trouble transitioning from generic back to brand name? I take 100mg at night. It's gotten so bad that yesterday the dr added 0.5 mg of kolonipin and I've NEVER taken and kind of nerve pill before. Should I switch back to brand name?

It's seems like the generic worked for about 3 years. But I don't know if it's working now. It could be bc I had a really bad anxiety attack a week ago and now I'm just over obsessing about it. Our minds make us have physical symptoms too. I've learned that over the years.
