Only been on 100mg for 12 days so will it take 2-3 weeks from this new dose to see a difference?

Hi Kayleigh, yep once you start to get better, recovery comes in waves, good days followed by bad days, sometimes you feel all over the place. This lasts for about 1-2 weeks because the level of med is trying to get settled in your body. Hang in there, you have indeed turned a new corner! Xx

How did you deal with the thoughts side?

I get negative thoughts and get worried about my children etc how long till they wear off

Well I have been on and off this drug for about 2 decades now so I guess having lived with this illness and the drug for so long I have gained some insight into it.  I started on the brand name Zoloft in my first or second year at the university and this was n the 90s.

How I deal with the thoughts? I shouldn't! That's where the med comes in to help me. I have been diagnosed with OCD, am a pure O, no compulsions, GAD, and depression along with panic attacks in recent years. Normally I am fine when I am on med, but every now and then I get off med and crash into these attacks that make me want to end it all when I am in it. But when I am out of it, I love my life and I love people.

So to to answer your question, you can't deal with these thoughts because logically you know these thoughts do not make sense but once you start to reason and argue with them, you get more anxiety and fear and you never win because it's like your mind fighting with your brain! It's a most terrible illness. So my best advice is if the thoughts arise, just say you'd gone this far and it's your mind playing tricks on you...also, it's good to keep occupied with something mindless like a computer name, crossword puzzle, knitting, etc. so these thoughts don't come up often and to distract yourself.

Also, just know that worrying is like a rocking chair, it doesn't get you anywhere. As for the med, give it 2-3 weeks to start feeling better. Hang in there, stay strong but go easy on yourself.
